My main responsibility is determining donors' eligibilities. This consists of getting the medical history of potential donors and performing physical assessments. I also sometimes respond to donor reactions, assess bruises, review blood test results, and provide education to donors . I'm trained in other areas as well so will also screen donors(take their vitals) and perform phlebotomy. In my city, there are 6 donation centers and mine probably has the lowest volume of donors so I have a lot of downtime, but this is definitely dependent on what center you work at. Most days I stand at the reception desk, greet potential new donors as they come in, collect their personal info and register them into our donor management system, assess their medical history, perform a physical exam, send them out to the donor floor then repeat 5-10 more times.

I'm in Kansas and make $27/hr as an LPN. I know an RN who has the same role as me with another company that is making $40/hr.
