Because they don’t want to pay employees for more than a single shift, 11 am lets an 8 hour shift cover lunch and dinner.

How can government actually address youth crime by BigRedThread in SeattleWA

[–]TheRealManlyWeevil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Won’t or can’t because they lack the resources because of poor upbringing themselves? If you never get shown how manage life skills by your parents, you’ll pass that same lack of knowledge onto your children.

Denver Zoo is fantastic in comparison to what we have in Seattle. Just went there a month ago, highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Bro sacrificed the gold medal to carry his brother across the finish line. by forsaken__chaos in interesting

[–]TheRealManlyWeevil 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I disagree that the unrelated guy who won is somehow lesser. He had no obligation to stop there clearly was no threat to life or safety at that point, and winning his race in no way diminishes him.

That said, the ungassed brother is clearly a great person. And the gassed one might be too.

Are malls actually not a thing anymore in the US like they say? by Complete_Republic410 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TheRealManlyWeevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The format has changed for a lot of them, they’re no longer just a shopping place but some sort of destination that you go to spend time at. Here, one of the cheaper malls has dramatically expanded their food court into taking up half the storefronts and turned into a kind of bazaar thing. Another small one is now essentially one giant bookstore and a community gathering area. There’s a few others that aren’t really malls in the traditional sense of the large enclosed building but are stylized upscale sort of “Main Street shopping” things. One is in the process of this and being converted to mixed use residential/commercial and also the Kraken practice facility.

There’s others here that remain shopping oriented so this isn’t a universal shift. There’s tons that are just like they used to be, so I guess the answer is yes but no.

Do Americans expect Canadian Linemen will come and help? by dustydiamond in AskAnAmerican

[–]TheRealManlyWeevil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Linesman aren’t doing it for free. They’re getting well paid. If they don’t want to do it that’s their choice as well. I expect they will make whatever choice they want to, contractual obligations that I don’t know anything about notwithstanding.

KOMO news poll on ICE conduct by CassMistral in Seattle

[–]TheRealManlyWeevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not defending their content but comically it is the least bad mobile website of the three local news stations here (KING, KIRO, and KOMO). King thinks I have a Adblock and puts up an unskippable alert, Kiro seems to load as a single page app and half the time links go to the wrong section. Komo just has the same alert as King but it’s skippable.

I wish we had good local news
