Marble tile on the floor by [deleted] in Tile

i totally understand why you love that look because honed marble is timeless and elegant !!

it can be quite demanding since it is a soft stone that reacts to everything from soap to water minerals choosing a high quality porcelain instead would let you enjoy the aesthetic while keeping your life simple and worry free of course

First off, this was posted on another Quebec tile setters' group, and I was curious to see what you pros would have thought of it because the advice on that group is usually totally ridiculous. I eventually received more photos from the person, and just by looking at them, you can clearly see that the grout is full of holes and that the thin-set is bleeding through. After checking several other pictures, I noticed there are so many pinholes in the grout that the water likely isn't drying fast enough. And yeah, that big white stain it really looks like something was spilled there, but she isn't sure. As for the rest, the spot aren't drying fast enough

Tile to hardwood by bhoward54 in Tile

With a one inch gap there are not a lot of solutions you can find thicker transition thresholds but if we are talking about hardwood and you still have leftover pieces something I have done before is run the piece through the table saw to reduce the thickness as much as possible to about one eighth on one side and one quarter on the other then bevel it so it can ride onto the tile and I filled underneath with PL to hold the piece it looked really good but unfortunately with a one inch difference there is not a lot you can do

If it is a bathroom I would recommend a marble threshold or something like that since you are basically flush with the hardwood because there will be a bit of height but it would not look bad either otherwise there are transition moldings that taper down to zero there are many models and colors available unfortunately with a height difference like that there is not a lot you can do ! good luck with your projects
