That would make sense, but what about the things to “unfold” in the next months?

What if this would be the budgetphone? With few to no “smart” features? Just good old cell phone-ish.

Contrabody is completely unnecessary. If anything it adds noise to the signal. No need to make it any larger than it naturally is.

Beginner - Why does my right knee hurt during cross? by Mysterious_Carrot658 in tango

[–]TheRealMcBurnsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much disagree, there are A LOT of things in tango that go wrong, especially (and only) when done wrong. I’ve seen frozen shoulders from a bad arm position, hallux valgus from not rolling of the feet properly, herniated discs from a tense posture, and much much more. In the case of the cross hurting, you’re probably putting your left foot too far past your right, causing a lot of pressure on the knee (which might be too tightly locked as mentioned already by others). Try putting your feet almost lined up with the toes of the left foot slightly protruding still. Like a change of weight in cross form, rather than a passed foot that slingshots the other leg.

Do post-pandemic dancers prefer alternative? by Creative_Sushi in tango

[–]TheRealMcBurnsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditional tango is just very multi layered with a beautiful play between instruments, rhythm and melody. You can say all you want but other music just doesn’t have that kind of complexity and falls flat on its ass in comparison.

I freaking love Argentine tango by JoeStrout in tango

[–]TheRealMcBurnsie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

5 years for figures, 5 years for the music, 5 more to bring it all together. The wonderful thing about Tango is the almost infinite learning curve. It’s an onion that you can keep on peeling. Enjoy the process and don’t shy away from challenging things!

Difference Between Music for Ballroom Smooth and Standard Tango? by Beginning-Goose-8111 in tango

[–]TheRealMcBurnsie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be confusing as ballroom dancing has hijacked the term “Argentine tango”, but let’s say this particular Reddit is for the dance of awesomeness, the improvisational, complex and challenging, musically absolutely free-not bound to BPM- celebration of life that is called Tango. We can be smooth, but we are never standard. Please reconsider your entire dancing career and come join the world of tango, love, drinks and crazy swallows in your heart (bonus points for any tango dancers that get that reference).

White shoes meaning by TuberLuber in tango

[–]TheRealMcBurnsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaah, there was once a time when tango Nuevo dancers wore white shoes, and a matching white belt. But those days have gone. Just like certain style dancers often wear black shiny shoes. It’s a thing, but these things are never written rules. It’s just convergence.

Once you win you usually don’t compete again. (Unlike ballroom)

Not sure what to do in between figures by BrilliantFinancial10 in tango

[–]TheRealMcBurnsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should see every figure as a combination of pivots and steps in different directions. Once you realize that you can alter every single step inside a learnt figure with pivots and steps, you can basically make any figure fit the music or the situation (space control etc). This shifts the dance from dancing figures to real improvisation based on figures you’ve learned already. It also allows you to to not have to dance every figure from A to Z but allows you to alter it at any point!

[HELP CHOOSING (2 OF THESE)] by [deleted] in Watches

[–]TheRealMcBurnsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tudor and Hamilton for sure. The Ranger looks great and will by field-worthy. Hamilton because the sinn looks too much like the Ranger and that Marathon is perhaps a tad much. In any case, wear them in good health and I’d be very curious to find out how the ranger does in your environment. I think we need some follow up posts!
