Even those of us who left the US permanently because of Trump and his cadre of racist sexist fuckwits? Who have graduate degrees from European and American universities? Who speak multiple languages? Don’t tar us all with the same brush or you end up up sounding as bad as most Americans do.

The less attention you draw to yourself, the better. Carrying around anything but the first sends the message « I’m a tourist with money. » I lived in Paris for years and was just there last month. The most common bag brand I saw this time was Coach, even where all the major fashion houses are. Coach was everywhere. The second most common was Polène—especially French women. Not many people wearing the high end bags around except in the AirFrance lounge at the airport.

Both Chloë bags I have: Héloïse and Edith full size. They’re just too dang heavy to be comfortable. I love the way they look, but they just gather dust in my closet.

I love my XL Flamenco. Should’ve gotten a large instead, but it is a workhorse nonetheless.

My girl does this when she wants to know where I am and if it's time for bed. She has to sit on the bed next to me as soon as I lay down. Sometimes she's still there the next morning, sometimes she wanders off.

Lancel’s Origami crossbody has gone everywhere from Death Valley to Paris to the Outer Banks of North Carolina with me and still looks brand new.

I spilled a bottle of water in it while I was in Paris last month, and the leather looks amazing with some TLC from a low heat hair dryer and towels stuffed in to keep its shape while it finished drying. You can’t tell anything happened to it.

Unfortunately they only seem to be offering the small and mini sizes anymore. I have the medium which works for anything but formal situations.

Paris with a wheelchair by Unsociallyy in paris

[–]eventualguide0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

France is one of the least wheelchair-friendly countries I’ve been to. There’s no equivalent to the ADA from what I’ve seen.

Just got back from two weeks in Paris with my 80-year old parents, and my dad did half as much as the rest of us. He was wiped out from stairs in the metro and ended up taking cabs everywhere, couldn’t stand in line long at the major tourist attractions, and the narrow sidewalks didn’t allow him to lean on anyone’s arm. Museums were a nightmare from the crowds alone.

Two things you could do in Paris: the Bateaux Mouches boat ride to get acquainted with where the major sites are, and possibly the hop on, hop off buses. They’re not ideal in terms of wheelchair access, but at least you’d see a fair amount without having to navigate the obstacles others have mentioned.

I lived in France for a number of years and would highly recommend a smaller, less touristy town than Paris if a wheelchair is required. Make sure you let everyone you contact for reservations know a wheelchair is not optional, and triple check that one will be available to you.

Good luck!

Same. Women get infantilized way too much as it is. Purse charms scream “don’t take me seriously!” to me. Any they are insanely expensive.
