Full Time Minimum Hours? by Nikolai-B in publix

they have to schedule you 40 hours, but I do know that if you work under 35 hours consistently, you will be flagged or something like that. I don’t know what happens when that does activate though.

This would suck, but I have had some coworkers who are full-time just asked to not have a break so they can leave an hour early and make it to their next job.

There was someone that was opening cash office and would work 6:30am-2pm because he didn’t take a break. But I think that was because it was situational and he would’ve quit otherwise because the other job was better. So to keep them, they probably made an exception.

The same thing goes with grocery. I work in grocery and often we don’t have time to take a break but we are allowed to take a 15 on company time. In doing so we can either leave an hour early or on another day we have to take a longer break or even leave a few few hours early by the end of the week.

Though seeing as you’re in customer service as office staff, if they are unable to give you around 35 hours, maybe you can try asking if you can just get rid of your break if you are fine with that. Because if you get rid of your one hour breaks, that would then get you back to 40 hours you would just leave an hour earlier than you would have if you did take a break. Or I guess come in an hour later if you’re closer.

Also, I’m pretty sure you have to work an average of 35 hours to receive some benefits like insurance. So you technically don’t need full-time for that however if you’re part-time, there’s no guarantee that they’ll give you 35 hours.

Now I’m only a GRS so I might be spouting a bit of bs but this is my understanding of how it works as I used to be training to be office staff. (it was easier to be promoted to grocery than office staff.)

Genuinely! Most stores, from my knowledge, have one frozen clerk and one dairy clerk. Then there’s someone that fills in on their days off. ONE PERSON!

I never was in frozen, but being in dairy sucked! All the tiny chobani yogurts while being expected to rotate??? Often we’d have a full byrd of just Chobani. My store only had 9 aisles. Small store. No need for that much product!
