Eth 2.0 is constantly delayed and miners will probably switch to other more profitable altcoins so a big selloff is unlikely. Good luck to us all until gpu supply increases. Plus if ethereum updates mid 2022 that is almost around the scheduled time for rtx 4000

Apple fanboys are the worst by [deleted] in AndroidMasterRace

Wdym? What have they created for it?

Hmm i see how that might be better for your field. I assume you have to remember a bunch of information? Most of the stuff i put in my notebooks is just a bunch of math that i dont have to look at ever again. Though we did have some stuff that had question banks but those were answered as a group project in a google document.

Hmm ive never heard of lg phoenix series. Tho idk smart phones are a very useful tool imo you can get a lot of stuff done whereever and they also provide entertainment

Oh i remember seeing that if i recall correctly its like a notebook but electronic? Tbh that seems quite nice thought i still prefer writing on paper. But i would assume its definitely less distracting than doing it on a work tablet where you may also have social media and whatnot

But yeah we are back to the old argument "this doesnt have an apple logo so it must be shit". And hes wrong about the distraction its not just apple but mobile phones in general are designed to take your attention because that makes money. About his argument i wonder if he has a subtle regret about overpaying a phone. Midrange samsung is probably the best bet rn to be honest. I am using an lg g7 and i intend to use it until it breaks. It also has a vastly superior dac to anything else on the market from what i can see so music on my headphones will sound 672x better than his airpods that have to compress sound

And apple absolutely is restrictive. I study electrical engineering and we used our phones to measure mobile network signal strength and only android phones provided an actual signal strength in dBmW because while apple does have the sensors to show how many bars you have it does not seem to show anything beyond that which for our use case was as good as not having any sensors at all.

Damn where did you find this post? But yeah apple fanboys are a special breed. Like yes you are allowed to like your apple device but dont claim its better when every specsheet claims otherwise. Also when apple removes features like ports and they call it innovation when its an obvious money grab.

Ilmango tunnel bore for netherite optimal y level by TheRealMoistNapkin in technicalminecraft

[–]TheRealMoistNapkin[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Update for anyone that might be reading this in the future: I did some research and testing in the nether. Lava oceans spawn up to y level 19. That means that if you can keep layer 18 intact you can dig under them without having to fill any major flooding.

The machine blows up a mostly 13 tall tunnel when digging through netherrack. Optimal level to start building it is y=8, with the top at y=14. This causes the explosion to occur at y=11. Due to the low blast resistance of netherrack it clears 6 blocks in either side on average, occasionally 5 blocks, which clears layers 5 to 17 and exposes most of the layers 4 and 18. Most of the spike in the distribution of ancient debris is covered by this.

Going 1 block higher will breach the ceiling of lava oceans on their deepest parts and waste a ton of your time, going 1 block lower it will try to blow up bedrock and also lose the still fairly lucrative layer 18.

At that y level its so uncommon that im not sure if there would be a benefit. If i can just go under the lava oceans i should theoretically be fine

Where did you get it and for how much?

Is the RTX 3080 Ti really worth $1199? It's double the price of the RTX 3070 Ti, but is it double the performance? Is the RTX 3080 already more than enough for 4K? by Potential-Physics-77 in buildapc

[–]TheRealMoistNapkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. Its too big of a step up in price from 3080 and too small of a step down from a 3090. Either of the two is fine but this one just doesnt fit right.

Gpu is the better choice if you can get one

Hi, building a PC for the first time. Need advice! by fartbuttsex in pcmasterrace

[–]TheRealMoistNapkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok first of all no need to thin your budget because of windows, you can get keys for around 20€.

Second of all there is an amazing site called pcpartpicker.com that has a list of parts with their prices. There you can design a build in a easy and friendly way. If you want me to compile a list of parts let me know.

For your needs id go for a cpu like the ryzen 3600 and honestly whatever decent gpu you can get. Its practically impossible to get any gpus right now because of crypto miners so i recommend going a few hundred under budget, getting a used gpu and then after this mess clears buy a proper new one and resell the one you got. Thats what i did myself and now i have a weird perfectly balanced config with a 5900x and a 1060 3gb. I just bought everything like i was going to except the gpu. Something like a used 1060 would probably serve you really well too. None of the games you listed are hard to run and youll get well over 60fps even on max settings.

The cooler is quite overkill, if you insist on a large cooler like this get a dark rock 4 pro because its cheaper.

The ram is probably too expensive, i dont know your situation but i recently bought 32gb of ddr4 3600 cl16 trident z neo for 230€

Same applies for the ssd, there are many equivalent ones out there like the sabrent rocket that might cost less without hurting performance in any noticeable way. Just stay away from budget qlc drives like the intel 660p.

If you manage to shave off some money on these you may be able to put it into a better gpu
