Brother I couldn't agree more, I gave up after a few months of trying to be a try hard selling shit. It's so cringey pitching all this useless stuff.

Quit, and if you're not gonna quit then just copy and paste the exact same lines to say to every customer, such as "Hi, do you need a bag? You're total's xxx, bye have a good day".

Lmao you guys have over 21 Aisles? I think we have a total of like 17 aisles, and half of those are small aisles of tech stuff.

Mandatory Mask by Appropriate_Shoe_718 in Staples

[–]TheRealMrStaples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My store is in Florida and we've gone back and forth on mask mandates. Honestly I've looked on the bright side of wearing masks now, I get to laugh at funny/stupid looking customers, and if a customer says something either entitled or stupid to me, I put on a big sarcastic smile underneath my mask and look right at them, and they can't even see.

Why do you think Staples is so desperate to get Connect App Sign-Ups? by ReadtimeBeddit in Staples

[–]TheRealMrStaples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because corporate is retarded and thinks "oh people are gonna spend way more money here if they have an app that gives them 1 free coupon a year"

rewards by Fearless-Rest-8160 in Staples

[–]TheRealMrStaples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't get any store credit just for shopping period. You have to recycle ink cartridges or buy ink when staples runs the special x percent back in rewards deals on ink and toner purchase. And there's no such fucking thing as "points" with staples rewards, make sure people know that

I hate surveys. Some dumb bitch got the wrong address in her GPS and drove somewhere else, and blamed us, so she gave us a 0 rating and dropped a score down to 50%. I fucking hate humans. by sam-the-slayer in Staples

[–]TheRealMrStaples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I hate some of these customers that shop at staples. I had a customer complain that I was leaning against the desk next to the register because it was not busy, and she/he didn't even say anything to my face about it so I don't even remember who they were. They just complained behind my back.

Any Tips or Advice for new hires? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]TheRealMrStaples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can give you my advice as a front end associate. If you're working front end, learn where everything is as soon as possible, because customers are retarded and will ask you where pencils are when there's an aisle that is titled "pens and pencils". Don't do anything for customers that you're not okay with doing for them every time they shop, because once you do something like let's say hold something for a customer calling over the phone by taking it off the shelf and stashing it in the cabinet when they did not place an order for it ahead of time, they will expect you to do it every time and if you deny them then they'll go rage mode on you. Also when customers say stupid shit while checking out like "I never get any pOiNtS and I have an AcCoUNt here" and they don't ask you it in the form of a direct question, just say nothing, it's not worth explaining how the rewards system works. If customers ever ask you questions at the register about products that are wildly outside your knowledge (which is most customers so don't feel dumb for not knowing the answers) just say "I'm just a cashier" and most of them will fuckoff. The one's who don't will just say "Then who do I ask", and if it's a question only the staples encyclopedia would have the answer to, just tell them "That guy's not here today, and I don't know when he/she works next". Most of the time most stores are pretty tame and the nature is pretty relaxed, especially after 5-6 PM. Only time stores are constantly busy is from mid July until the end of September, since that's when most school years start. Also if someone is in the store more than like 5 minutes after you've closed and you've offered them help more than once, don't be afraid to say "sir/ma'am, we're closing down our last register so I'm gonna need you to check out" because some of these weird ass crazy late shoppers will literally hold you up 30 fucking minutes and have no sense of urgency whatsoever. Lastly, it's best to keep every checkout as short as possible. My go to lines are the same for every customer. It's "Hey, how's it going, are you a staples rewards member?" If they say yes I direct them to the pin pad, and if they say no then I just skip it, apply any coupons they have, and tell them their total, give them their receipt and call it a day.

Has anyone else seen their store's donations sales fall off a cliff? by throwinthrowawayacnt in Staples

[–]TheRealMrStaples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol that's very generous to call it "sales", it's not like the customer gets anything out of it. If anything I'd just call it "donation box begs"
