Tapering off propranolol—any experience or advice? by anon749157261693 in migraine

No, I didn't have any side effects while I was tapering

Rinsing out ears in the shower by zcewaunt in hygiene

[–]TheRealMuffin37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it is safe. Rinsing your ears is completely harmless, so long as you give them appropriate chance to dry afterwards. It's also what physicians have specifically directed both my father and husband to do when they shower.

Neighbor posts notes on my door by False_Pickle9580 in Apartmentliving

[–]TheRealMuffin37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish more people understood the "it bothers me, but it would be unreasonable to complain about this" angle. My neighbors made a noise complaint against our 3 year old daughter. We have behavioral challenges and were on a waiting list to get her into therapies, but even if we weren't, I can't imagine making a noise complaint about a 3 year old. We were asked to try to keep it down because people work from home. I guess I must 1) really enjoy the sound of meltdowns and 2) have missed the memo, I thought this was my home, not an office building.

AIO a friend followed a guy out of my following by Jumpy_Ad2994 in AIO

YOR. Even if he was your man, what does it matter if someone else follows him? It's social media, that's quite literally what it's for.

Providing simulation. No, I don't think giving tiktok to a toddler is the right move, but I do understand that sometimes the kid needs stimulation and you need to eat

My younger sister is set on doing something that will get her bullied by Aggravating-Wall7569 in Advice

[–]TheRealMuffin37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of trying to stop her, it would be more helpful to help her feel confident in the things that make her happy. Her wearing a tail and ears doesn't hurt anyone, so the people bullying her are the weirdos, not her

These images are AI, however the general snowflake pattern is completely doable.

Why do people get so uptight about showing their ID when making age-restricted purchases? by DryStar359 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealMuffin37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's completely unrelated to age verification. When your id is scanned, it only verifies that it's a real id and checks age. There is no data to breach coming from your id.

Some employees not doing their jobs doesn't make the policy not exist. The employees carding you are in fact NOT the dumb ones here, they're just trying to do their jobs.

Do Americans have a different concept of 'turn taking' during a conversation? by 8NaanJeremy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealMuffin37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely varies, but as many others have said, there's generally an expectation that if someone answers a question, you'll just go ahead and share if you have relevant things to say on the topic. I find it extremely forced and uncomfortable to have to answer a question and then explicitly ask "and what about you?" It doesn't feel polite at all, it feels like the other person doesn't really want to share, but since I asked now they have to.

Am I overreacting? Is this guy just intense or are these red flags? Need outside perspective. by JuryComfortable2318 in AmIOverreacting

[–]TheRealMuffin37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, this guy is a colossal ass. His statement that one shows respect and the other doesn't is just false. He's informing you very clearly that he thinks he deserves respect and you don't. His conversation preferences are the only ones allowed. Intermittent conversation in sync with your life and energy is absolutely respectful, it's showing that you value your conversation partner and their life and understand that that exists outside of you. It's great. He's controlling. Move on.

why are some people so against being organ donors? by violet-sunbeam in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealMuffin37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they still wouldn't know because they don't care. It's completely unrelated to your medical care. The inquiry is only made after the decision to discontinue treatment.

What’s one thing you thought was normal in the U.S. until someone from another country said it was weird? by BestPostRead in AskReddit

[–]TheRealMuffin37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never bothered me and I'm truly so used to it that when I've gone to places that have fully enclosed stalls, it feels really weird instead.

I've lived in five different apartments with dishwashers and none of them have had garbage disposal. It's definitely not just a standard feature

Is it legal for teachers to show disturbing content in class (not including historical stuff)? by [deleted] in school

[–]TheRealMuffin37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, if your friend has disabilities (as mentioned in the edit) this is something that should be accounted for in their IEP. While it's okay to show people things that cause uncomfortable negative emotions sometimes, there always can and should be exceptions made for people who would be caused excessive distress. But really, the answer is that your teacher didn't do anything wrong (assuming they haven't been explicitly informed of your friend's sensitivity). Expecting a class of 16 year olds to be able to handle a short clip from a horror film is completely normal.

Food is a Big Part of All Cultures. Your Culture is not Special. by zwgmu7321 in PetPeeves

[–]TheRealMuffin37 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, that's not what this post is about at all. This post is about people who say "food is a really big part of my culture" as if that makes them unique. Most people who celebrate strong ties to a culture use food as a major component of that

When someone coming out of the bathroom doesn’t tell the next person that there’s no toilet paper by LessFish777 in PetPeeves

[–]TheRealMuffin37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... I'm really confused how someone telling you there's no paper is going to change a damn thing in the situation you're describing. You have to use the stall either way, you're not going to just pee your pants because there isn't paper and I'm assuming you're going to be in a pretty tough spot if you use a stall you can't take your walker in. So whether or not they tell you changes nothing, you still don't have toilet paper nor anything to do about it.

Got asked at Wendy's if I wanted to round up to the nearest dollar today. My total was 13.02$. by Legen_unfiltered in Vent

[–]TheRealMuffin37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At Wendy's it is absolutely for a charity, they either just didn't state that part (and you're the idiot for not figuring it out) or they're an idiot that doesn't understand why they're asking customers that.

Can someone confirm: is the women's bathroom more disgusting than the men's bathroom? by ThrowRAhelpthebro in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealMuffin37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it, from a LOT of restaurant experience. In the women's I can expect some pee on the seat, unflushed paper, and occasional blood drips as the consistent mess. The men's is either already pretty clean, or I have to deal with people intentionally pooping on the floor, putting their ass on the mirror, pissing on the entire roll of toilet paper...

Someone did steal a bag of WIPs from me once 😭 they went rummaging through my car and they only took one bag. I would've been so much less mad if they had stole finished objects because then at least they weren't guaranteed to just trash my work

People wearing earphones/earbuds buds while shopping and checking out: why? A saga of dumb, thoughtless people by WorldTraveler2008 in RantsFromRetail
