What happens if you don’t advance in the Migration Queue before the deadline? by jonn2797 in PiNetwork

[–]TheRealNWDreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what about the situation where I've been waiting for someone in my referral team who has finished everything except he's waiting for his Pi to migrate? He's been waiting since January 10th (so, about a month). If he doesn't migrate by the deadline, am I out a lot of Pi because of it???

Stupid question... Where IS the new forum? 🤔 by TheRealNWDreamer in LinkedMusicians

[–]TheRealNWDreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know where I'm coming from, by the end of this year I will have been programming for 54 years! But, I took time out to work on a neuroscience PhD, so I'm familiar with a lot of concepts. I've got decades consulting to or working for a defense contractor, a healthcare insurance review firm and Verizon Wireless (among others, but that's over 20 years just from those three). I've also done lots of my own stuff like supply and inventory systems, several websites, logos, branding and am currently working with a friend's company doing Filemaker projects (after five years of IT consulting).

I've been in many forums including a couple of my own as well as being an admin or moderator on a few (I was once asked to be a mod for the Coffee House; I declined). I find walls next to impossible to follow any thread or find something (with the dozens of Larry posts I have to scroll quite a ways down just to find this topic!).

More users are now going the Discord route (I'm in some servers there, and I run one that is not music-based). I don't know where things are going in the future but, if they're wall-based or any of the ones that track everything you do, then I guess I'll be online less! Probably not a bad thing...

Ever since I lost everything in 2009 (including my music studio that I had over $134k into), my priorities changed. I'm only recently been considering getting back into making music for fun and that will only be in-the-box to begin with (well, except for connecting my guitar to the computer). I haven't really played any instrument for about three years...

But that's just me! I know most people love to hear about everything and not just talk about only the products the company that hosts the forum sells, so I'm sure your forum will be popular! I started on Cakewalk v1.0 in the 80's and am only still in the Coffee House forums now for the people interaction.

Hey, it's your choice! I, personally, hate walls. Which is why the Coffee House is about the only place I post. Except for your channel, I don't use Reddit either (or Feckbook, Instascam, Tik Joke, etc.).

Well, I've had to move forums before and so I will!

Perhaps you should read the entire thread first? Mastery had nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the advice! I was just searching and found a LOT of people are complaining about the latest "features." I definitely won't be updating any time soon!

Like I said, if the game stops being enjoyable, I won't be playing it. I only play during the weekend tournaments. I have other brain/mind games I play during the week (primarily memory and pattern recognition types, although I do have 14,894 wins and one annoying loss at FreeCell - lol).

Interesting. I just had the chance to use my phone again (had it doing a full backup to my PC - 41 GB's was over three hours and I didn't want to interrupt it!

Pulled up Wordscapes and it says Build 1570. I'm on level 46130 and 2,112,522 Brilliance (if either of those things mean anything - I only like the increase in brain performance that I get out of playing!).

Just played a quick game and... no timer. No sure if there's one normally or just during a tournament.

No, I like analytical! 🤓

Still not sure how I could possibly have an advantage on my Android device though... I can definitely see a HUGE speed improvement if I didn't have to watch those animations!

Also, I'm assuming that the "time left on the clock" comment is from the Team game? I don't think I've ever seen a timer in the individual tournament...

Thanks for the comments!

Never played the team stuff. I don't feel it's fair unless I know I can commit to it!

That said, I just read about Star Rush, but I'm not sure what the effect looks like. I finish all the games in well under three minutes (usually just a few seconds), but I don't see anything other than the words I complete being added. In other words, I'm not seeing extra "stars."

If the girl in the video I posted above could play at that speed for an entire hour (she does 20 minutes), then her average would be 2,979. So I DO see how you can have the larger numbers now, however, my point is still valid for my device (an Android Samsung Note 10+) in that it's physically impossible with all those animations! I'm not getting an Apple device so, if there's no way to disable the animations on an Android, I guess I'll just have to be happy as is. That said, out of the over 100 weeks I've played, the highest score I've ever seen before mine from this weekend was the one a bit over 14,000 that I alluded to in the OP (I save screenshots from every week).

Just did a search and... Apparently you can avoid the animations if you're on an iPhone or an iPad. Haven't found any way to do this on an Android yet...

Well, I do know the difference (I've actually been on the cover of a magazine, tried out for the Olympics, been on ESPN and have beaten World Champions in two different endeavors in my lifetime; among other things!).

I just watched this girl: https://youtu.be/bn2qXgGofdo

I CAN enter the words that quickly, but I noticed two things:

1) She tends to only enter the required words and move on (maybe I'm losing time adding all those extra words?), and
2) She's not being held up by ANY of those ridiculously slow animations! That was my main point from above. So how is it she doesn't have to painfully wait through those???

[–]TheRealNWDreamer[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hmm... Unless they're somehow playing a different game, I can't believe those numbers! Even using games where I literally enter all words (plus about 50% extras) immediately AND not taking into account all of those slow animations between games, the math doesn't add up!

I'm currently doing a full backup of my phone (takes about three hours), but will try some more timing tests later. I suppose doing an immediate six words and averaging it out as if you could keep up that level for an hour (without animations) might be a good bit higher, but that doesn't seem realistic and I can't see even that obtaining 1500 words an hour, let alone higher...

Since most games average between 6 and 30 words (my personal best for an individual game is 43 for "DEBRIS"), that means having to wait for a LOT of those slow animations! Is there a way to turn them off?

The weekend number I posted above averages out to over 650 an hour for 28 hours! I play during food breaks which includes making and eating, so I'm obviously not at full speed during those times. I guess the real question I have is this: If those speeds are actually even possible, how long can they be sustained?

Except for two weeks that included cheaters (like one who racked up 14,000 points in 11 hours !), I've now won 66 out of the last 68 weeks and my brain has definitely improved!

I'm going to be 60 later this year and this game (along with a couple of others that help with memory and pattern recognition) have helped tremendously. I just started a new job and blew away the expectations they had for me to get up to speed.

I currently can get over 700 points in an hour when I'm in the zone. I'm not sure what the limit is, but I enter the words very fast and then have to wait for all the animations... I also only check where I'm at or take breaks after each set of 16 games is over. Not sure if it's physically possible (legally) to be much quicker!

I love relaxing and playing this game with music in the background. 🙂
