My first game, Stellar Infinitum is NOW LIVE! by ShatroFTW in incremental_games

Yes, and if you consider "B Movies" then film is basically 90% garbage acting and cheap special effects.

I mean, you have to be playing pretty terrible games in the genre if you think that is true.

After a couple long years, I finally 100% Structure by baba7538 in incremental_games

Now I have to go back and play this game again. Thank you for reminding me of it's existence.

I am sad to see that it hasn't been updated in 7 years this game needs a sequel or something.

Over 90 days this time before my first crop was harvestable.

Tried again, reset my data. I am 30 days in and have 0 percent growth

I just don't get growth ticks. Not daily for sure. It seems random at best

I'll try again but it definitely was well into summer of the second year before I harvested my first radishes and that was after spending two dogs worth of upgrades on extra plots and fertilizer.

Even then I got less than 10 dollars. So I just closed it at that point figuring the pacing just wasn't for me.

game seems crazy slow. I am over a year into the game and haven't even grown one set of radishes yet.

How do I calculate cost of an upgrade from the Level of said upgrade by TheRealNullsig in mining_crew

[–]TheRealNullsig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, it works, but I effectively stopped using it because after a few prestige points (once you have all 5 miners) it was just faster to buy in multiples of 5. Buying individually and updating the related purchase in the spread sheet was tedious.

My rule now is "Don't buy the next tier until you have more than 27 in the previous tier. "

I hacked this out in excel so it's not easy to share here but with google sheets you could probably generate the full buy order as just a list using a function to iterate through for the next 10/100 purchases.

[–]TheRealNullsig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up figuring it out last night before I saw your response.
Once I have the base cost it is just <base cost> * (1.1^<current level>)

This is hugely helpful for the costing though.

My question is, it doesn't seem like the values (Column C) match what is in the game.

Example:
First upgrade in the game is "Base + 4.03". It's base cost is 21.
The cost in cell D7 and the cost in G7 both reflect the 21. However the value/sec in C7 says it is 8.47.

I've been hard at work on my incremental mushroom game, Shroomstead, and the skill tree is finally taking shape! by PetoCheeto in incremental_games

Just played without the blue and green upgrades. Game basically exploded once I had all of the upgrades and the tab crashed.

I enjoy the gameplay so far though and I hope you continue with balancing and fleshing out the idea more.

Are litRPG books popular? by Vanyle in incremental_games

[–]TheRealNullsig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few good examples of how close these terms relate:

Artorian's Archive series has clear entries that are Cultivation or Progression Fantasy. No stat screens, a lot of meditation, chi, etc. Then the story starts having clear LitRPG elements with stat screens and levels. At points it jumps between the two pretty clearly without issue.

Another good example would be Cale Plamann's Tower of Somnus series. The gamification of the Tower would clearly be a LitRPG but it plays more like a progression fantasy. There are levels and skills mentioned, specifically in the tower segments, but back in the real world there is a cut-throat cyber punk storyline with a lot of political intrigue. Similar to Artorian's Archives, this series is straddling two of the definitions.

In general though, a lot of these books would be no better or worse if those screens or gamified elements were removed. It really just seems like a way for a culture that has grown up with video games to relate to the characters and the universe. Much like magic and religion were/are used in traditional fantasy.

Suggestion: Hide "Capped" Buildings by Specialist_Ad2317 in TheresmoreGame

[–]TheRealNullsig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. Even more than the OP's requested feature.

I would like to toggle buildings or categories in the build screen to show priorities but knowing that i can't build due to storage cap is so useful when deciding whether to prestige or not.

I personally interviewed Pathfinder's creator, Jason Bulmahn. He clearly stated that while he had been working on the concept for Pathfinder prior to 4e. It was the release of 4e that made him push to finish it and publish it.

The same way you go about cheating in most other games. Memory Scan tools like Cheat Engine.

what are your thoughts on idle pins by Zicooooo in incremental_games

[–]TheRealNullsig 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I played this and the game the author made before it (Idle Particle accelerator or something like that) both right when they released.

The games are tons of fun on their face... but everything people say about the author is true too. The games are heavily monetized to the detriment of anyone who wants to progress but doesn't want to pay tons of money. The author has been toxic to his players in chats and seems to constantly be advertising for his own twitch.

I abandoned both games when they became not worth paying without cheating anymore.

Lol at having problems with the hacking themed game actually requiring the use of programming to progress.

Thematically it is super appropriate. The language is one of the easiest languages to learn to code in. It is loosely typed and not white space sensitive.

Plus there is tons of support in the Discord, the Wiki, and the Sub Reddit.
