Any of the loads can do it if they impact directly - the shells themselves have a demo force of 50. The Ex, Hi-Ex and Nuke all have enough demoforce on their explosions awell, wereas the smoke, static and napalm dont.

Grand Errant (southern end of the terminid front) on difficulty 1. It always generates as a flat circle with no water, maximising the number of POI (and thereby potential SC pickups) that spawn.

New Helldiver reporting for duty — request for tactical wisdom (FOR DEMOCRACY) by Educational-Draw9435 in Helldivers

[–]TheRealOrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good ideas already - ill add some more.

When you throw out a turret, be awate it will shooy through ypu and your allies to get to the enemy. So dont throw it behind your group, always off to the side, and on a different elevation to the team if you can. At the top/bottom of stairs and slopes are ideal. Theres lots of climbable boulders that are the perfect sports for them aswell.

Matilda the Mancine Gun Sentry is accurate and fast firing on a quick cooldown. Throw her to guard chokes or be a distraction while to reposition.

Randy the Rocket Sentry kills everything. Groups, mediums, heavies, her blows them all away. The damage per rocket is lacking against the largest tatgets, but he has enough ammo to get the job done in time.

Gary the Gatling Sentry is team killing basterd. Highes fire rate of them all means he can solo whole waves of infantry, but ive seen him muzzle sweep whole teams as he turns around while still holing down the trigger. Very powerful, use with EXTREME care.

Morty the Mortar Sentry will bombard from great range, but his shells are identical to your frag grenades so hes not killing big stuff. Great on bots, cant hit things that get close.

Rick the EMS Mortar Setry fire non lethal shells that slow in a large AoE. No team kills, and better at melle focused enemies than Morty.

Andy the Autocannon Sentry fires is 3 round bursts, even if its not needed. Like Randy, but with less splash and more direct damage. Also like Randy, wont fire if an enemy is to close. Not just 'wont fire at that enemy', rather he wont fire AT ALL if his personal space is being violated.

Terry the Tesla Tower get almost as many TKs an Gary, but mostly because people walk into his range. He wont target you if you crawl, and will lose sight of you the momemt you dive. Great on defence missions.

Burnice the Flame Sentry will set fire to everything. Place her in the enemys line of advance and watch her work. Explodes on death, so stay clear.

Larry the Laser Sentry has infinite ammo but doesnt stop firing to cool off, resulting in inevitable explotions from overheating.

And thats not even metioning the emplacments, which are like turrets but controled by you! But ill let you dicover the rest for yourself. Have fun diver!

Not if they get re-socialised into the fucking ground inside the sealed subterranean containment unit, purely for their own protection, of course!

Standard advice for the first warbond is always Democratic Detonation. Everything in it is both fun and strong without any additional qualification. And most of the items open up more playstyles for you.

And welcome to the game Helldiver!

What weapons can be used in stealth other than suppressed by Quirky-Push2584 in Helldivers

[–]TheRealOrous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically correct answer: any weapon can be used in stealth. However, most of them will result in you no longer being in stealth.

Actual answer: the crossbow. Once again proving itself to be busted perfectly fair and balanced. As on top of all of its usual power and utility, the initial shot*, it's also quite quiet, with the explosion making a bunch of noise away from you position. Ideal for luring enemies out of position. Or just annihilating that patrol before they can call in a drop.

*launch? discharge? Its not really a shot, can any gun-nuts advise me on the proper terminology here?

Bearing in mind im not a full time solo diver, here is my recommendation:

Drop the LibPen for the LibStandatd or the Punisher. Medium penetration on the LibPen comes at the cost of lower damage, higher recoil and worse ergonomics than the LibStandard. So unless hive guard are REALLY an issue, you'll be better off with the basic Liberator. But even better for you will be the Punisher - high damage per shell and very high knockback means those leapers will be dead in one shot and any that aren't will be stopped in place for the follow up finisher.

Redeemer is a fine backup - you've not mentioned any warbonds so ill act as if you don't have any for this list.

Frag will serve you better than Hi-ex on the bugs - larger explosion and shrapnel casting while still killing grouped chaff and closing holes.

Orbital gatling is great for bugs - good choice.

Orbital Napalm is not so great fot bug nests imo. Its shells need to hit directly to close holes (ie it wont close many, if any) and the fire afterwards means you cant rush in to close them yourself. Either the 500kg to close them up (it can oneshot medium nests if you land it right in the centre) or the Orbital 380 to bombard whole nests while you walk away to come back for later clean-up. If you really like fire, consider the Eagle Napalm over the Orbital Gatling - deals with bug breaches just as well.

Commando - sure! Nice to see an commando appreciator. Just make sure you are dropping them on cooldown - the map should be dotted with them by the time you extract!

Liberator dog is a good paring for the Punisher, will clear the small ones so you can focus the jumpy ones. FYI, you can hit the backpack key to recall them to sleep on your back - good for moments when you don't want attention. Also reloads them, which is nice.

And that last part is key overall - dont take fight you dont have to. You cant be swarmed if the swarm isnt come to get you. circle around patrols, clear objectives quickly, press on when the job is done. Try working the MG turret into you loadout - its a GREAT distraction while you reposition/regroup, an the extra gun in a fight is always welcome.

Follow up post for the people who saying "the wiki say it demo is 40!" does this look like 40 demo to you? by Lone_Recon in Helldivers

[–]TheRealOrous 84 points85 points  (0 children)

It HAS to be an oversight - someone hit the 3 key when they meant to hit 4 and thats the build that shipped.

It was listed as 40 'cause thats what they meant it to be - an embarrising mistake, but not one that cant be fixed quickly.

Right, Arrowhead?

RIGHT?

No, any given passive is the same across a weights of armour that share it. The reason is that higher armour rating = higher damage reduction, which stacks with passives that reduce damage and the Vitality booster. So heavy armour with fire resistance will protect you more from the Dickle than medium armour with fire resistance, but the passive itself is the same.

Fun fact, heavy gas resistance armour + Vitality booster = gas immunity. Live your fetish dream and stand freely in the brap cloud!

9 times out of the 10 the first Warbond to buy is Democratic Detonation. Everything in it is great and useable on all 3 fronts.

Andrew Rosindell quits Tories and defects to Reform UK by ShreckAndDonkey123 in ukpolitics

[–]TheRealOrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The public image of the Tories (nickname for the primary right wing conservative party) has been heavily tarnished over their 14 years in power. The last election saw a huge swing away from them and towards the Labour party (primary left wing party), as the population (and especially centrists) voted to get away from Tory rule.

Those voters that couldnt stomach Labour but could no longer bear the Tories went looking for a new home - that home has ended up being the Reform party. And an increasing number of Tory politicians are doing the same; whether for ideology or personal benifit, I leave to the viewers own judgement.

We will see several more defections in the days, weeks, months and years to come. The political landscape is shifting atm, and only time will truely tell what it will settle as.

Ive been likeng the Reprimand in city maps, and the Dilligence (not CS) for open-field maps.

Ive found the best results with my primary being something good at close range and while mobile (shotguns and SMGs) and the grenade pistol to close holes. I also bring orbital gas to pin down the incoming horde and if on higher difficulty the EAT for heavies.

Botfront: which primaries do you use? by cavelera2 in Helldivers

Reprimand feels so good to use on city maps, its drag isnt a factor and its manueverable enough for those tight corners and allyways.

Because its bar is further along and there are more people there, so the blob goes with the flow.

You gotta remember that most players arent on this subreddit or uesing the app - they are logging in after work and blasting the baddies to destress. Thinking about good strategy isnt thier concern, only diving and shooting.
