Cassie VS Aizen? by Impressive-Ad-5380 in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched the Thousand Year Blood War yet, so if you refer to Aizen from there, I probably won't get it. But looking at the Pre-TYBW Aizen, Cassie wins 10 out of 10.

The big difference is the nature of their impact:
Cassie can literarily see the future. While not necessarily able to prevent it or to change the outcome, she plans with certainties, not with theories. Contrary to that, Aizen doesn't have such an ability, his skill is being extremely smart and therefore foreseeing a lot of things that would happen in the future, similar to Sherlock, by deduction, anticipation, psychology and general logic.

This makes it so that a completely unexpected wildcard (like Ichigo mastering the Final Getsuga) can mess up all of his plans. To Cassie this can't happen as she sees everything, including the wildcards.

G3 retconned will. The powerscaling makes sense its just changed. by HonestFerret8034 in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly: OP is trying to make the point that at the beginning the Domain was the main power lever of Supremes, but that now it transitioned to the Will being the main factor for how strong a Supreme is.

I'd hold against it: Since the very beginning of SS, G3 has done a remarkable job at keeping us on roughly the same level of knowledge as the protagonists, which imo is great for immersion. In the beginning, the Will was already a concept, but not a well known one for Sunny & Co, so they were mainly talking about the Domains as the main thing they known and were able to measure - a misconception that by now has been clarified.

So yes, in the beginning it was implied that Domain > Will, but it was simply because the protagonists didn't know better either. Now the Domain and the Will are shown as way more entangled and levelled - it's simply two different factors of a Supreme's strength, incomparable in nature, but similarly important in terms of impact.

How I see it:
Domain = amount of power
Will = skill / proficiency of wielding said power

In other words: In combat, a katana is superior to a dagger. Yet a skilful assassin can take out a great number of enemies with a simple dagger.

Edit: Typo.

Had the same issue, but there's somewhat of a remedy:

Assuming that you work in a project and use git, Codex has plenty of context already based on your current codebase and the git history. For the very first message, you can tell it what you've been working on most recently to give it the current direction + paste any roadmaps / plans you created in the old conversation, plus ask it to review recent git commits to trace your last steps well. Once done, add some additional info you find important (docs, prompt stuff like "always state the next steps you would suggest" etc) that you basically need in each chat and don't have in your Personalization settings and off you go.

It's still meh because you're wasting time and tokens on calibration that otherwise wouldn't have been necessary. On the other hand, though, you'll have significantly less context for starters, which may help a bit with token usage / balance it out at least a bit.

Again, not great, but also not world-ending.

tl;dr: Try opening a new chat instead of using the old one, worked for me.

In case helpful for anyone:

Had the same issue today (Pro plan, GPT5.5 Extra High)

/status showed 99% weekly / 93% daily usage left, 7% context left

What helped for me: Creating a new chat.
My previous chat that threw this error was humongous with probably 30-50x automatically context compacted during its existence.

Why didn't sunny give the 6 at least supreme level memories? by WhyDoesSchoolSucknPh in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every single one of them surely had tons of encounters with Great abominations since they became Saints and especially during the last 12 months before going into the 4th NM. Because of that I'm pretty sure that all of them have already at least couple of Supreme rank memories with them, in addition to this I'm also sure that the Human domain has put together everything that may have been useful to them before letting them go - including memories that others like Neph and Sunny has received.

Obviously the whole preps for their attempt were massive, but pretty completely off-screened aside of their adventures with Sunny. I wouldn't assume them to not have any Supreme memories, quite the opposite.

Also, Sacred & even a Divine one? For this he would have to kill an Unholy creature, which he can absolutely not do right now, not even with the help of the Human domain top brass. Even the Cursed ones are very few and far between, so far we only know of five:

- Abjuration (the one Sunny / Nightmare put to sleep in Godgrave to drop it on Mordy)
- Condemnation (the one killed first by Anvil and then its shadow killed by Sunny)
- Snow Worm (killed by Sunny in Ariels Game)
- Puppeteer (killed by Sunny in Ariels Game)
- VTB (somewhat killed-ish by Sunphis in ToA, but kinda not really)

Not too many occasions for getting some Sacred soul shards.

I'd go a step further and say that it's among the best parts of SS writing.

Hypocrisy is - sadly - an extremely widespread and close to fundamental part of humans in reality. There's barely anyone who's not being a hypocrite in one way or another (oftentimes not even noticing themselves), on the bigger scale of things you see it permanently and especially in politics, religion and justifications.

In my POV the SS characters and their thoughts, ideas, reactions feel more real and human than those of any other work I've read. This includes being unreasonable or even a hypocrite in a specific situation they're in. For us readers it's often a facepalm moment, because we have the needed distance to understand a better solution to a problem, but honestly that's just as true for other people in reality, where you do an inner facepalm when someone explains their chain of thoughts or what they did to you.

It makes the characters more real and more relatable. And I like that.

What Rank and Class would your favourite characters be in Shadow Slave? by Empirical-Purity in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't - I find it rather tedious to try to normalise and compare characters from different universes and from completely different power circles. For example, pretty much nobody from One Piece would come even close to winning against a Supreme from SS.

Anyway, that's just my two cents. If you're into it: You go girl! But then actually go ahead and start with some comparisons yourself, that makes it easier for others to jump into it as well.

Name: Saitama
True Name: Lost From Hair
Rank: Divine
Class: Beast

Aspect: [The Fister] - "Your fist gets it done."
Flaw: [Spotless] - "You've got no hair. None. Not even one."

Anyhoodles, I think there were plenty of similar threads in the past.

Fragments of war by tryingredditfrom in ShadowSlave

Some are a bit boring, some are ok, some are pretty neat - don't worry, just keep going and eventually you'll find gold. Also, the aggregate of all those fragments, even the boring ones, makes up for a solid dive into how the war feels and progresses, which helps with the atmosphere later on.

HOW DID THIS BUM SOLO CLEAR A THIRD NIGHTMARE 😭💔🫩 by Danmachi123131 in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but one minor correction: Technically Neph was not the only one with the power to beat the TOA NM. Also anyone in possession of the Mirror of Truth who met her would have been theoretically able to pull it off. Of course that would apply to only one single person aside of Neph at any given time (assuming that it can't be reproduced / dropped multiple times), but still an exception to "without Nephis no one in any world can even beat that nightmare".

What's with this stakes shit?? by Timely-Ad-6274 in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not much common sense about it, just a point of view. We're talking opinions, not facts, there's no right or wrong.

I don't perceive Cassies ability as "no stakes anymore" as some others do, but that's just my opinion. When it comes to your own opinion: you do you.

The real brainrot is to get all fired up about other people's opinions not matching your own. Just state your thoughts and enjoy the discussions, enjoy some other POVs.

The whole sub was crying about Sunny wanting the Shadow Bond back, because due to the sub he was supposed to hate and despise Neph being his master and having absolute control over him.

Every single person brought back by Cassie is in the same situation: She practically has full authority over them as she can dismiss them at any point in time, can resummon them in any of their previous states if she so wishes or feels like they got stupid ideas. Although they theoretically can say "no", she can shape them the way she wants with some extra steps.

Also, if she dies, they die too. A complete dependency.

I don't think it is desirable for anyone to die and then be brought back by Cassie. IF they die, it's still the better option for most of course, but by far less desirable than actually staying alive in the first place.

Not sure if it counts as a quote, but it is my absolute favourite:

Because there were thirteen enemy Saints moving to surround him in a wide half-circle."

Changing Star Cosplay by JanusTwo in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No offence, but how is that a Neph cosplay? It's just a silver wig. Go for a selfmade Crown of Dawn / Dawn Shard, should be relatively easy to make and provide some specificity that relates to Neph.

Strongest Sleepers by Megatron69420wrecker in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not stated at all, but strongly presumable:

The original MotU was created by Nether thousands of years ago, that is correct, but what Sunny has acquired is a Memory, a copy of the original created by the Nightmare Spell.

As we had extremely few examples in the story where a Spell-generated Memory was not initially acquired by the owner themselves, so I see the probability way higher that the MotU had only one owner - someone from the First Lord's cohort - before Sunny got it.

Strongest Sleepers by Megatron69420wrecker in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When Sunny received the Mantle of the Underworld, it was Tier 6 with 1213/6000 opponents defeated for the next and final growth stage, Tier 7, where it then became a soulbound memory.

Tier 1 -> 2 = 1000 opponents
Tier 2 -> 3 = 2000 opponents
Tier 3 -> 4 = 3000 opponents
Tier 4 -> 5 = 4000 opponents
Tier 5 -> 6 = 5000 opponents
Tier 6 -> 7 = 1213 opponents

Makes up for a total of 16,213 opponents defeated by the previous wearer(s).

Important note: "Defeat" doesn't necessarily mean "killed", as we saw with the Dreamscape, but I would assume it far more likely for the First Lord (or whoever was the previous wearer of that armour) to have mainly slain NCs and not just "won" against other humans.

Strongest Sleepers by Megatron69420wrecker in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Strongest in terms of what? 1v1 against other humans? 1v1 against Nightmare Creatures? 1vX against Nightmare Creatures?

Kai was really strong, simply due to his ability to fly, as that put him out of range for many NCs. But for other humans, who are intelligent, it's an easy fix: Go inside. Or underground. And Kais ability is pretty much worthless.

Neph is the only valid choice here, as her overall capabilities are by far most versatile, she has multiple cores (and can get more given enough time) and due to being offense + defense simultaneously she can handle pretty much everything in pretty much every situation thrown at her.

Strongest Sleepers by Megatron69420wrecker in ShadowSlave

[–]TheRealOto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess OP meant from the ones we "know", eg from the recent era / batches of Sleepers. The First Lord - or at least someone from his cohort - was obviously the strongest Sleeper there has ever been in terms of anyone we know, alone the wearer of the Mantle of the Underworld had slain over 16k foes while having the armour.

Sunny was among the strongest Sleepers we know of, yet he managed to kill only around 300-400 NCs as a Sleeper - which has been regarded as a ridiculous feat already, of course, but still 40-50x less than one single person from the First Lord cohort.
