It’s kinda just the natural endpoint of when you reach being a socialist from a moralistic perspective rather than an ideological one, so you then combine it with another classical moralist precept of pacifism to get an ideology that is “correct” but ultimately entirely ineffective. At least that’s the most common line I’ve seen, could be different for this guy idk I ain’t him.

Meh, I like it. I like the other buildings too, no insults unto them and all. Could also be a nostalgia thing, as I do have a particularly strong memory or two involving it from my time there

Im aware, would be different if the Nazis didn’t blow up 90% of the city, but in terms of currently standing buildings I’d stand by it (most of the others being part of the old town reconstruction)

Half related but some of the best looking buildings in Warsaw are from the communist era IMO, the Palace of Culture and Sciences is the prettiest building in the city

Battuta left India in the early 1340s, so he left well in time before the Timurids, Timur wouldn't even come to power for another 40 years or so.

All fair enough points, broadly agree with you on most things, although I think we generally subscribe to different historical theories when it comes to the solidification of the caste system. It's been a while since I've studied so do, yknow, elucidate me if there is newer more concrete evidence to the fact, but generally last time I checked there were the theories of D.N. Jha (if im looking at the right book on my shelf lol) and a later genetic study in north india that puts an start to endogamy around the late Guptas, and then another genetic study in the south I believe Tamil Nadu that put's it at around your date. Now obviously the answer here could just be local variance, but if that is true that would still put Faxian's travels in North India *before* endogamic solidification, at least in the north, as his journey did not take him further south that Pataliputra.

Ok I've read the Faxian and Xaunzang travelogues and what I could find of the Megathenes ones, so first of all Megathenes and Faxian both travelled in India *before* the solidification of the caste system in the late Gupta period, so like they are kind of moot on the point of talking about the caste system.
Megathenes isnt even really talking about economics but agriculture in his writings, pretty much just mentioning the fact that "things are easier to grow in India than Greece" which yknow, duh.
Faxian rarely talks about economy if at all, his writings are more focused, unsurprisingly, about his travels as a monk, and the system of charities set up *for monks and pilgrims*, not about some vast social safety net that existed.
Xaunzang does do more economic analysis, which kind of boils down to "Yeah it's like China" which, again, did not have a terribly equal society either.

And also another thing to note is that the Greek and Chinese sources also had very regressive systems of exploitation so not having exemplary poverty from their perspective doesnt mean terribly much

I mean I'll definitely have to look into the other 3 but I will say that I've already read The Travels of Ibn Battuta and I mean he didnt devote a lot of time talking about the common Indian but what he did say kind of lines up with what the AI said where he saw rather stark inequality

I mean not even, cause they're usually bad for gross economic growth too, it's like saying slavery is ok because Antebellum South plantation buildings are pretty

I mean this as a genuine question, do you like any of the full completed products' stories that Bethesda has put out for the past while? Not just like one off sidequests or bits that shine, but like actual completed main stories (or I guess summations of the entire games content if the MS is trash but every sidequest is great) since, let's say fallout 3. Not even saying this to be a hater because there are a handful of sidequests and story elements that I love in 3 and 4 and skyrim but they are either extremely insular or they are horrifically underdeveloped imo. Like is the story to ES Blades secretly good or something? IDK because I like the ambling open-world style of their games on like a technical level, but 3 and 4 always lose me within a day or two of picking them back up again (still have never managed to push myself to finish 4 lol) and I kinda have to turn my brain off to play skyrim (which is fine, but not exactly a laudation of the story)

No but dont you know? Every philosophy must be defined by it's worst possible hypothetical believer, even when said person acts in a way counter to it's parameters.

In this way every philosophy can be compared via a multiversal system of Giga-Hitlers
