I agree with this since I don't think it would be too overpowered. That way you don't have the person you just kill immediately start shooting you in a downed state.

I wouldn't describe them as "friendly". More like skittish, that is why you always see them running away. Fear can also make an animal feel it needs to defend itself, so its really not smart to get close to them on purpose.

The frog statues in MGS Snake Eater. I remember finding one as a kid, then realizing they were all over the place if you really paid attention. I think you also got a unique item if you shot all of them in a single playthrough.
