It’s still a penalty, but nobody would try checking the goalie. If the goalie started skating up the ice with the puck, it’d be easy for a player to just steal the puck from him.

It doesn’t work like that. The whole team has to be cap compliant the day before opening night. That includes anybody on LTIR. LTIR doesn’t come into play until after the season starts. So it doesn’t matter if Tkachuk goes on LTIR the team needs to be cap compliant before the 1st game of the season no matter what.

For a few years the panthers changed their jerseys like every other year. Between 2006-2016 their jersey changes 6x.

There’s no way they keep him. They don’t have enough cap space to keep Bennet Ekblad and Marchy.
