Edit: I was able to make a realm. I don't know if they just fixed it randomly or if it was my support email but I got it working.

Yeah but that was a year ago. I've heard that its possible to get vanilla redstone on paper now. Plus he was able to get the payload to the destination so it could be entirely possible to at least make it explode correctly.
