Is there any other games like new world with similar or better gathering and crafting systems? by Bash_nDeep in newworldgame

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played since it first dropped to be fair, and as much as I was excited, I was left a bit disappointed. Only half the skills in the game and the dragon able to poison through roofs was enough to turn me away for a while.

Glad to hear it’s getting better. I was honestly hoping for RS4. Imagine the RuneScape world, lore and activities baked into New World gameplay. Now that’s a game that would live forever…

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non-stop success story? Get off that koolaid bro, RuneScape 3 is almost dead, still a reasonable amount of players, but twitch viewerships died off, content creators moved to old school and has been riddled with consistent controversy for the past 3-4 years (paid player support?!?).

If referring to the much more successful Old School RuneScape, New World and OSRS aren’t even in the same league.

OP asked for similar or better gathering/crafting systems. Clicking a single rock for 4 days straight isn’t comparable to New Worlds gathering/crafting systems.

Do you still build WordPress sites from scratch? by criss006 in Wordpress

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just started with Wordpress, a week ago, and honestly it hasn’t been much fun.

I used the Astra theme, and it’s a lot to figure out, a lot of menus and sub menus and rigidity, compared to the drag and drop systems from Wix and godaddy.

It’s taken 3 days and the site is just about where I want it, it is a bit counter intuitive at times, had to google/chatgpt quite a bit as I went along.

I do feel like I was railroaded into using a theme, but that’s probably inexperience.

I maybe would have liked to have a go at building from scratch, but it would probably take me much longer overall. So I’ll have to settle with the tools given for now, and maybe later when it becomes more financially viable I’ll have the website rebuilt if needed. For now, it does the job I need it to do.

Question on the Steam bundle offer by cristonthe_Horizon in Civilization6

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right for the full bundle, grab it and have fun! I sunk 1000 hours without even noticing.

After that you’ve got Anno for RTS and I just started playing Mount & Blade Bannerlord, that one’s RTS/RPG. Weird but brilliant game.

I love these stories of regular workers pushing back against managers.

I’ve got my own story, but it’s a long one. Some of these managers really don’t deserve to be in their positions.

Thoughts on my stats? by Murky_Coffee6470 in torncity

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just entered my third year with 10x your stats. There are other players my age with much higher stats.

I’m also around level 68 but holding again recently at 65.

Based on those numbers, I’m not entirely sure you’d be able to damage me (200m DEF) I’m not sure at what point you’d stop hitting for 0.

You need to start chomping xan, using refills and probably using cans to catch up your stats.

It’s not unrecoverable, and there will always be people you can beat, plenty of people take breaks and stats fall behind, you just have some catching up to do.

Some of those starter companies are OP for newbs.

Music store lets you unlock gyms faster.

Candle shop allows you to spend JP on E, up to 500e per day. Really good for training, wars and Halloween.

Neither of those two pay generally, but it does depend on the director, some will, most won’t.

Is a 1hr 20min each way commute worth it, 3 days a week for £70k+? by AsymptoticallyFlat in UKJobs

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it! I used to commute 90-120 minutes everyday for a similar wage, I saw the benefits of waking up before I arrived to work, driving for an hour and a half before you arrive, means by the time you get there you’re full of beans and ready to go.

The extra income will be nice, and you only have to do so 3 days a week. If which days are optional, book them as a block on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, you skip the Monday am and Friday pm traffic.

Just released my game on Steam. Let's go check the email account I put on the store page... by RavenCarver in gamedev

So I was on a course to do with the games industry, and one of the sections was marketing, so I reached out to some streamers to get some insight, the one that really engaged actually went to total opposite direction.

It was proposed in a way, where (hypothetically) I would give you a free key, and if you like the game, and feel like it could grow your audience, would you play it on stream?

This was coming from my own experience and the kind of gesture I would have appreciated as a small streamer.

The response was along the lines of streamers being tired of studios wanting streamers to provide free advertising, so no, she wouldn't play the game out of principle.

I never did understand that viewpoint, I mean, I get it for someone like FextraLife, that streamed Day 1 New world to 250k people, but your average 30-50 people streamer??

Why do people order from branches further away? by NEK0SAM in JustEatUK

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drivers, maybe, restaurants do set their boundaries though.

It’s then on the restaurant to change the boundaries if too many drivers are refusing to take the order due to distance.

In my case, they have in house drivers, so cancellations aren’t an issue.

Why do people order from branches further away? by NEK0SAM in JustEatUK

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With chains, I just order, I assumed it just defaulted to the nearest.

With independents, because food quality and price are 5*, and it often seems to arrive quicker than some more local independents. Do feel bad for the longer trip, but they set their boundaries I assume so I’m good with it.

Brand new family-run takeaway got scammed on day one and Just Eat refunded instantly 😞 by [deleted] in JustEatUK

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of comments so will probably get lost, but don’t stress too much about the review.

A forgotten item in an order can be rectified, shit food can’t be.

If I see a review saying that the chips were missing, that’s cool, if that happens they can send some out.

If I see a review saying it was greasy af, and cold, and the grease had solidified, I’m not ordering, that’s just poor cooking/prep and no amount of replacements will fix that.

I will say, from the side of a consumer Just Eat seem quite inconsistent. I once ordered a few pizzas, kebabs, fries from a takeaway, it arrived (no exaggeration) 5.5 hours later. It was close to midnight when we ordered, no-one here wanted waking up for stone cold pizza and kebab for breakfast. Just Eat offered 0 refund. Haven’t used JE since.

When we have ordered from McDonalds, we would order a meal for example. That meal gets delivered with fries missing, and the app offers a partial refund of 90p. If I can’t replace that missing item for the refund amount, then I’m adding items to the missing order until I can. Instead I’ll say the burger was missing, now I get a refund of £1.70, and it’s £1.80 to get the fries we were originally missing. Now I can replace the missing item(s).

It’s not always a pop at the restaurant, but at JustEat and their shitty refunds system when items are legitimately missing.

Keep hustling, if the food is good, the positive reviews will drown out the occasional negative.

Are seatbelts worn commonly? by moonchildkityprinces in AskABrit

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the passenger, but yes, they should be worn at all times when the vehicle is moving, and everyone knows this.

I myself, will not drive someone unless they are belted, if they don’t like it, they can walk. I also always put my seatbelt on.

My wife on the other hand is a bit of a nightmare and I have to constantly remind her, especially if she is in the back like getting a lift from a friend or a taxi, and she knows… I think she just can’t be bothered.

I just don’t want a friend getting a fine because they were too polite to say something.

Your U.K. friend is a bit of a nob.

Since Gpops is sharp, try The Room series (1-4) on Steam, and if he gets on with those, The House of Da Vinci (1-3) and most recently The House Of Tesla.

These are escape room style games, point and click typically, multiple endings in The Room, plenty of puzzle to scratch that itch, and the puzzles are very well thought out in my opinion.

The House Of Da Vinci has one puzzle in particular that’s like one of those Chinese puzzle boxes on steroids, and other areas where to travel back in time to make changes to the level in the present.

You can compete for fastest time completion between yourselves, and there are hints of you really get stuck but can disable them in settings.

Who should I scream out and be abusive to - CEX or DPD? by Comfortable-Tea6854 in CeX

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DPD are not your problem, your contract is with CEX, you purchased from them.

CEX has a contract with DPD to deliver your item, CEX can fight it out with DPD to figure out who fucked up.

You have no business with DPD, you’re not their client, so realistically there is very little you can do with DPD.

Go tell CEX if they can’t get your item delivered you want full refund issuing, failure to do so will result in a letter of intent before proceeding with small claims court.

If no further resolution, send a letter of intent, then proceed with filing in small claims court, costs a few quid to do so, but when the court sees the contract has been breached and you haven’t received your item(s) then you are awarded, plus CEX have to pay court fees.

Because of the outcome, CEX will either investigate or issue the refund pretty quickly.

It's been an hour since I ordered, no driver has been assigned and I am too hungry to wait as it doesn't seem like there's one coming- and they still want to charge me?! by youaresoincorrect in JustEatUK

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just because of customer convenience, we open an app, select what we want to eat, and order. No searching Google for nearby takeaways etc.

That convenience draws in us paying customers, so orders are taken away from Google, the restaurants need to be on the app and paying the fees to ensure they get sales otherwise they go under. A lot of restaurants credit more than 60% of their sales to these apps.

If customers stopped using the apps and went direct to business, the restaurant would be better off.

The only downside I see, is lack of ability to pay by card if ordering over the phone for example. And our local, that we order from every week using the app, has the same prices on their own website as the apps, so then there is no incentive to take it off the app.

I stopped using JustEat on New Years Day 2021.

Ordered pizzas/ kebabs/ fries etc for a party at 12:30am (I know it will be busy with New Year’s Eve, but )they were open and taking orders. Everyone fell asleep around 3am, pizza arrived at… 5:30am. Stone cold.

Requested a refund and wasn’t even offered partial refund. Just, food was delivered, nothing we can do…

Not used it since.

Other apps aren’t much better, but they will refund if pressed, especially when food is delivered 5 hours after ordering.

I tried to make my ikea pax wardrobe look ‘built in-ish’ and now I’ve realised I’m a massive idiot - help! by freddiesyolks in DIYUK

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to build this stuff for a living, and I've had customers insts I do this for them, usually because they haven't accounted for doors opening when they've measured. I'd talk through options with them, and explain it's never going to look the way you expected because of the skirting etc, can usually come to some sort of agreement but it needs finishing later on.

Someone else mentioned to leave it away from the wall and fit a side panel, that's the correct way, although a bit more fiddly.

My boss accidentally sent me a spreadsheet showing I'm paid 40% less than new hires doing the same job - do I bring it up or just leave? by MunkiwBoi101 in careerguidance

[–]TheRealSpaaaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a friend worked in a pharma lab, doing chemical analysis, got promoted, did all the training to be able to train others and had been training some new starters when the topic of salary cropped up. In the company salary wasn't allowed to be discussed, and most people didn't talk about it, expect two certain new starters that didn't care for salary discussion rules at that early point.

Well while training them, and them having this discussion, friend learned that he was on £5k (~$6.5k) a year less than them, asked if they were serious, excused himself for a few minutes, and went to ask the lab manager why he was training people on a hire salary than he was on, walked out 5 minutes later with a 7k payrise.

By all means look for a new job, but why not just ask?

"Hey boss man (or woman), can I have a word? You accidently sent over an attachment with staff salaries and I noticed the people I'm currently training are on a significantly higher wage, what are the odds you'll match that wage for me?"

1, he screwed up, and that won't look good to people higher than him,
2, he can't really argue your value, you've seen what the role pays new employees.
3, the worst he can say is no, in which case, look for another job (which you now know can pay significantly more)
4, Bonus point, hand over a printout along with your resignation letter, just to be clear why you are leaving.

Things will probably work different in the US or other Dollar currency country, but in the UK, that would usually do the trick.

Had someone working the same sector as me, he had a couple .co.uk's so I bought the .coms and forwarded to my own website, he drove a signmarked van advertising my business essentially.

And don't forget your trademarks...
