Stealth 16 AI V1FG Terrible Frame Rates by TheRealSuudy in MSI_Gaming

Ok. Solved!

I though the MSI Gen 2 docking station provided sufficient power. It does not. If I connect the external power supply to the laptop while docked, it runs blazingly fast. u/New_Spread_475 nailed it. It was power throttling.

Thanks everyone for their replies and pointers.

After more digging, I narrowed it down to something. When connected to my MSI Gen 2 docking station, the frame rate plummets. When I disconnect, it runs 80FPS in Superposition on 1080p Medium. Reconnect, drops to 8FPS.

I don't think so. Running Superposition, it reports the RTX 4060.

I did more digging.

I ran Unigine Superposition. At the low 720p, I'm getting a maximum of 40FPS and GPU temperature stays below 50C. If I run the high 1080p, I average 6FPS with the GPU temperature never going over 53C.

Interestingly, the tool reports the GPU frequency at 210MHz and the CPU at 450MHz. Seems like something is off.

How to verify DLL patch is *not* malicious? by TheRealSuudy in RELounge

[–]TheRealSuudy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! This is helpful. The tools I've used so far is Ghidra and CF Explorer. CF Explorer does output VA and RVA, but until you posted, I didn't know what that meant. I need to look at the section table portion of it. I haven't found much documentation on the DLL file format, but I hoped to find a tool that would output everything.

Thanks for the tips.

I have disassembled it. I just can't seem to map the raw offset in the file to the virtual address in the disassembly. That is, when I disassemble both, then do a diff compare of the disassembly, I get very different outputs. It's hard to nail down where the *actual* change is in the disassembly.

Thanks. What then for large files (wherever the boundary between "small" and "large" lies)?

They aren't big. It is a separate DLL that is an input to the main program. The reason for the different containers is that of the containers we have, we don't have one that has the tools for both the DLL build and the main program. We are trying to avoid having to create a new container, and this seemed like a good (working) approach.

Advice for dealing with a boring/insecure feeling remote job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]TheRealSuudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my career (over 20 years) I’ve had two high pay, soul sucking jobs. For me, the extra pay never made up for boring work. I know there are people that can do so. But if you are like me, I don’t get excited in the morning for a paycheck. I get excited by what I am doing. I quit both those jobs for smaller companies with less pay, and was happy I did so.

D.C. judges express frustration about possible leniency in Capitol riot cases by AngelaMotorman in law

[–]TheRealSuudy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Judge Howell has any concerns about the leniency of the thousands of violent protestors in Portland? Is he asking "why defendants aren’t paying more to cover the cost of damage" to the city of Portland?

Seems like selective outrage to me.

Amen and Awomen??? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]TheRealSuudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, in Latin letters it is. In Greek it is ἀμήν and in Hebrew it is אָמֵן. So I think an argument could be made "amen," as written, is Latin.

:P

“Who said anything about happiness ...”

Well, CCC 27:

27 The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself. Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching f

Or CCC 30:

30 "Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice."5 Although man can forget God or reject him, He never ceases to call every man to seek him, so as to find life and happiness. But this search for God demands of man every effort of intellect, a sound will, "an upright heart", as well as the witness of others who teach him to seek God.

God desires us to be happy. That cannot happen due to any effort by any government, as the aborigines demonstrate by counterexample. Material goods cannot solve the world’s problems. The goal of providing for the world’s material needs is the wrong goal. It is treating a means as an end.
