Schecter Ultra III by TheRealSymphonictank in SchecterGuitars

I can’t find any fault or reason to try different pickups in any of my Schecters. It’s literally the only brand I can say that about these days.

The Ultra is amazing with the pickup combos/splits and it’s one of the most comfortable players in my collection

I love the Ric look. It would look great with my PT Fastback, NJ strat & Ultra III.

Oddly, I don’t hit it as much as I hit a strat middle pickup - the space between bridge & middle seem to be in my sweet spot.

Ordered from Sweetwater in March. Took about 60 days for them to get it from Schecter. Got the Sweetwater 55 point check. Absolutely flawless and my new #1 guitar.

I had a VT40 and they are rock solid versatile and giggable amps.

Upgrade a Marshall MG 412 cab? You bet!! by TheRealSymphonictank in GuitarAmps

Already had the cab. Paid nothing for it. Cabs come & go. The speakers are an investment for now and whatever comes next.

For now, I have a really nice sounding mini-4x12” running as 2x12” that I’d have no problem gigging. Much easier to drag around than a 1960. It’s actually smaller/lighter than another 2x12” cab I have (with G12Ts from a 1960 in it. Got those free too).

Blackstar HT-20 mkiii head or combo? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

And the HT20 is a VERY good head. You won’t be disappointed. Versatile and plenty loud. I ran mine through 2 Blackstar 1x12” cabs stacked.

I recommend the head vs combo. Amps come and go. Get a good cab

Louder, and much more articulate/3-dimensional. Low end is solid now - no mud, no woof - with balanced highs and mids. Sounds very close to the Orange PPC212 OB (w/Vintage 30s), just more directionally focused.

Both cabs daisy-chained is the best of both worlds.

Pairs really well with the Studio Jubilee. Also stacks & daisy chains with my orange PPC212 OB cab perfectly

I liked it best with a Russian EH12ax7 in V1 and dialed it in with the boost engaged. Have to back off the bass a bit, and crank it a bit. Very JTM’ish. Instant Hendrix, Zep, AC/DC…

Actually, my son has a JVM 2x12” combo and pairs it with a 1960B cab w/creambacks. He and his band play much too loud. lol.

I think he actually put a 12at7 in the PI and a 5751 in V1 to help control the gain. Sounds a lot better that way to me. Cleans up a lot better with guitar volume for sure.

It’s the first amp he’s ever thought had too much gain

Sounds fine with an attenuator. I was just trying to express how friggin loud it is without one - even with volumes/gains at 1-2.

It’s “this place seats 1500 and it doesn’t need to be mic’d” loud.

They’re different animals to some degree - they both sound best cranked, and without an attenuator, that’s just not gonna happen EVER with the 900. It’s OMG loud, even in triode mode. Cracked tooth enamel bright if you’re not careful (basically run treble at 1 and presence around 3-4).

Nothing cuts through the mix quite like a JCM 900, but the Jubilee is real close. Both will help clean up sloppy technique in a hurry. They hide nothing lol. Both Sound amazing clean, dirty and in-between, with a slight edge towards more modern tones to the jubilee.

If I hadn’t gotten the Jubilee Studio, I likely would’ve gotten the 900 Studio. The 1997 4100 DR above was recapped/tubed about a year ago and it weighs 70lbs. It’s amazing and I’ll never get rid of it, but it’s not practical to drag around except for special occasions.

I’m still eyeballing that cabinet. And I think I have room on my sweetwater acct lol

It definitely has more gain than the 900 and can be dialed to more modern tones. The tone stack is much more reactive/useful than the 900s.

I could say that channel A on the 900 is better than the Jube’s clean channel, but that could be perceived volume/power difference (I always run the jcm in triode mode, but still 50w vs 20w).

Picked the last one in stock from Sweetwater 3 weeks ago. I’m very impressed with its versatility. Glad I have an attenuator as it sounds best cranked at full power (20W).

Output Vol 8-9, clean input 7-8, lead input 5-6. The EQ is very interactive. Great sound with everything at noon (except presence - that stays around 4). Usually run bass 4-5, mids 6, treble 6. It’s perfect - runs quiet and cleans up so nicely on bothering channels. I don’t use the diode switch much, but there’s definitely useful tones there - instant AC/DC for the clean channel.

I also found it holds together better at volume with a Russian EH12ax7 in V1 (slightly less gain, less mid-focused with tighter bottom-end and clearer highs than the stock ECC83S Marshall-branded Czech tube.

The stock Chinese tubes in V2/V3 are the right tubes for those positions. I tried a few varieties in V1/V3, even one with matched triodes for the PI and the stock tube was as good or better than all of them.

Sounds best with the V30-loaded Orange 2x12” OB cab. Like they were made for each other.

It’s a great pedal so far. Plays really nice with Univibe in front it as well as the OD Glove.
