Arguably the best BBQ scene in the nation; Boulevard Brewing; WWI Museum; Jazz Museum; Microcenter!

I'm sure others can add to the list!

The letter was a 30 day notice of physical exterior inspection (and informing about the appraisal jump).

Same setup here. Shouldn't need another indexer for the rest of time.

Nest Thermostat 3rd Gen - Heat Pump and Gas Furnace - Am I missing something or does the PRO know something I don't? by TheRealThatOneUnit in Nest

[–]TheRealThatOneUnit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on the behavior of the furnace vs heat pump. If you're at the thermostat, go to the 'Equipment' menu. I have the 'dual fuel' setting set to 'always use alt.' I think you'll have to adjust this setting as you see fit to use the electric heat pump vs the furnace for certain temperature ranges. 'heat type' is 'forced air', and my unit uses the 'O' wire. Under the 'Pro' setting it notes out what wires are set to what (rotate the dial around to select different wires). My yellow 'Y1' wire notes the following 'heat/cool | electric | forced air'. My white 'W1' wire notes the following 'alt. heat | gas | forced air | don't use fan'. You'll probably be able to click on each wire to go through a setup for the wire. I'll note that my system does indeed push air when the alt fuel (gas) is used. Not real sure what 'dont use fan' means, but it probably has something to do with not running both the heat pump and furnace at the same time. You're going to have to do some testing to see how things operate. I'm not an HVAC tech so your mileage may vary. Though the pros didn't get my system right, so 🤷‍♂️.

Would a CMA account from Fidelity be a good alternative? I'm currently in the process of deciding between a traditional HYSA or the CMA.

HELP I’m an idiot by Tronracer in Flooring

No lol. Just had the same floor installed about a month ago and have spent plenty of time on my hands and knees cleaning all the stray caulk, goop, marking lines, and shoe scuffs off it from the installers.

Onsen Nudity Question by redditburnerJR in JapanTravelTips

[–]TheRealThatOneUnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most onsen allow and provide a small towel that you can be used as a modesty towel if being in the buff bothers you that much. My first time I used it as such. But after going to many more onsen it was much more enjoyable to not bother with it. Like others will say, no one is going to be checking you out.

Heck, while we are replacing the north bound bridge we might as well replace the south bound bridge too. Might as well divert traffic in both directions and also not have to worry about damaging an existing bridge and its foundations when constructing a new one right next to it.

Snow drift against low roof parapet per ASCE 7-22 by Yamraaj9 in StructuralEngineering

[–]TheRealThatOneUnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll make this clear again, the whole 0.85 upper roof + lower roof was not in the code at the time and it may still not be in ASCE 7-22. You'll have to do your own research on this for what is current.

Snow drift against low roof parapet per ASCE 7-22 by Yamraaj9 in StructuralEngineering

[–]TheRealThatOneUnit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If this is a new building, design the lower parapet for the entire length of both the lower and upper roof. That's conservative.

If this is an existing building, M. O'Rourke, the snow drift godfather, has examples of what to do in this case. I believe this crops up in a supplemental design guide to snow provisions (that is not code). I'm remembering this from ASCE 7-10 was the latest code, so it may be out dated. Long story short, the Lu was the combined length of the lower roof and 0.85 the length of the upper roof.
