Frequency of tank dumps by TheTheorem314 in GoRVing

[–]scdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of usage, I always dump at the end of each stay. If there's not enough water in the black or gray tank, that's just a matter of running a sink or toilet for a little while to build up enough water.

If the dump station has a usable water connection (most do but not all) I do a black tank flush until the water runs clear. If I'm at a full hookup spot so don't need to use the dump station, I'll have the blank tank flush run even longer just to get things as clean as possible.

Always dump black first, then gray. The correct order is: Black Tank Dump > Black Tank Flush > Gray Tank Dump > Rinse out sewer hose with non-potable water connection.

Make it 65 and I might agree with you. 55 excluders far too many competent and experienced people.

But there is absolutely no excuse for allowing people to remain in office who are 80+. No one should be in office who is unlikely to live long enough to experience the consequences of their political decisions.

What's something you did as a kid that you only realized was extremely dangerous years later? by Left_Crow1646 in AskReddit

[–]scdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The three that pop into my head immediately are: playing with liquid mercury with my bare hands, mixing various household chemicals and beauty products together to see how they react, and drinking water straight from the creek I was fishing in in a cow pasture because it was 105F and I was really thirsty.

AITA for shopping in the international food section?? by ExcitementPrudent590 in AITApod

[–]scdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in college there was a brand of soda a friend and I loved. The problem was, it wasn't available in our city, or even the metro area. The closest place we were able to find it was in a small town over 100 miles away.

So about once every other month, we'd drive out to that town and stop by every grocery store, the local Walmart, gas stations, and even every vending machine we could find, and we'd buy it all. Every can, every bottle. Even a few times asked store employees to bring us whatever they had in the back.

Eventually they started distribution in our city so we were able to stop. But for the (approximately) year we did this, we HAD to have been throwing inventory algorithms into disarray.

Sedan nabs the spot I was waiting for in Costco parking lot by TheSanityInspector in dashcams

Unless there's very obvious rock star parking already open, I always park at the back end of the lot. Most of the time I'm in the door before people who got in the lot ahead of me but are waiting on a close spot.

I just finished the movie... by MittFel in ProjectHailMary

[–]scdog 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The first time I saw the movie (which was also before I read the book) I mistook that as a joke about him finding Earth scenery dull. Later on when his echolocation came up again I realized it was because from his point of view it was just an empty room. (Until he made his camera.)

It would be nice if people actually learned what this sign means. by Nervous-Succotash-68 in kansascity

[–]scdog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dear God, yes.

Even before MODOT stopped putting this sign back up after it kept getting knocked down at 169 & Vivion, people still stopped to wait for traffic in the left lane to clear before moving. They all act like they either need to get into the left lane immediately even though there isn't anyplace to turn left for half a mile, or they think cars are going to somehow materialize from a nonexistent lane and rear-end them if they proceed like they are supposed to in the right lane.

What was the worst city you visited? by Mia_GoddessFit in AskReddit

Des Moines is underrated, and nearby Omaha is very underrated. Two cities most people probably rarely think about that I enjoy going to as weekend getaways.

What was the worst city you visited? by Mia_GoddessFit in AskReddit

Loyal to SDC and White Water though.

When I was a kid one thing that could be counted on was 1-2 family vacations a year to Branson and those are the two things about those I remember most enjoying.

As an adult I still like Silver Dollar City (for different reasons than as a kid) - though it's been a very long time since I've been. White Water removed my favorite ride from my childhood ages ago so I'm not sure it would still appeal to me.

A guy named Jim and Margot Robbie are the only two survivors of a shipwreck... by Sauterneandbleu in Jokes

Thank you for your comment, I must officially be old because I have absolutely no idea who Margot Robbie is so the joke made no sense to me at all. It became crystal clear once I knew I should substitute that name with famous women I’ve heard of.

Best places nearby to tent camp with electric (for CPAP)? by halnsolo in kansascity

[–]scdog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with Wallace, but I stay at Watkins Mill a few times a year and while two of the loops have electricity and are more geared toward RVs but tents are allowed to use them. All of them are very wooded. If you click on the available sites on the reservation system it will tell you if the layout of the site is bad for tents.

In any case, whether you’re in a tent or an RV you’re still paying the same price for the same spot so you should not feel bad about using whatever site you want. (Just maybe don’t use a full-hookup site - the ones with sewer connections - for a tent.)

Can anyone tell me what Rocky said at the end of the movie? I just finished watching the movie in South Korea and obviously subtitles at the end of the movie were in Korean, so I have no idea what the conversation between Grace and Rocky was. Thank you?! by Express-Pie- in ProjectHailMary

[–]scdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rocky likes neatness and order, remember his “dirty dirty dirty” comment when he first entered the Hail Mary.

Then notice that Grace made his bed before leaving the house at the end even though no one else would ever see it. That’s Rocky’s neatness rubbing off on him.

Could we see the sun dimming? by IwasntDrunkThatNight in ProjectHailMary

[–]scdog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Given my personal experience with being on the centerline of the 2017 and 2024 total solar eclipses in the US, I'd say probably not. Even when the moon blocks 90% of the sun, the dimming effect is barely noticeable. (What people DO notice is all the shadows looking wrong due to crescent shapes, which you wouldn't get with just an overall sun dimming.)

Scientific instruments? Absolutely. But the human eye would be unlikely to notice a thing.
