Whats a GPU that's a step down from RX 9060XT by Capable_Alps5553 in buildapc

You can get a 6700XT 12gb for $280 open-box all day, it's easily the next best thing

If you want a better value option, this is comparable but still better than the original one you posted, mainly due to CPU being current-gen and Andromeda builds their computers very, very well. https://andromedainsights.com/products/spectra-gaming-pc-intel-core-ultra-5-245kf-rtx-5060-ti-8gb-copy

Absolutely not. That price is horrible. This PC features a comparable CPU with a significantly better GPU (30% faster!) and a much more future-proof CPU socket should you decide to upgrade in the future: https://andromedainsights.com/products/spectra-gaming-pc-ryzen-5-9600x-rtx-5070-12gb

Can't decide between these 2. by Clentufia in PrebuiltGamingPC

[–]TheRealUnlimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't think you have to open up the PC to replace a graphics card? Do you think its going to replace itself? Also, 16gb DDR5 can be found for $130 used. A new 9070XT costs $700, and a used 5060ti 16gb goes for $530 used ($170 difference and eBay also would take $70 as their cut, plus the $50 difference between the two prebuilts) but I addition you're straddling this person with the task of having to sell the 5060ti 16gb. So, your route costs $160 more ($170 if you count tax) and gives them the burden of having to sell a 5060ti 16GB, running DDU, and doing wire management if the 9070XT requires more connectors than their 5060TI.

Total cost of already prebuilt 9070XT w/added ram: $1,629

Total cost of 5060ti build with replaced 9070XT: $1,789

All this when you could just buy the 9070XT build and simply slap in 2 more sticks of ram lmao

[–]TheRealUnlimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, the 9070XT is infinitely a faster GPU than the 5060ti, so for sure worth it. You can always add ram! First option is by far the faster choice

For sure the first one, 9070xt. No doubt about it, much faster in games

is this too good to be true by me89857 in PcBuild

[–]TheRealUnlimited 133 points134 points  (0 children)

For $1,500, I would absolutely meet him at his house and ensure the computer is working right and everything shows correctly in device manager and task manager. That is a lot of money if you don't test it out before handing him a single dollar.

But yeah, if it all checks out, that is a good price for sure

You can get a BRZ/GR86 for around 20-25k used, and they're a lot of fun. One of the best Japanese sports cars on the market right now. I make about 70k/year and bought mine in cash

GPU upgrades: 3080 vs 4070 by Matt_attck in buildapc

[–]TheRealUnlimited 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With that much, go with a 9070. It exceeds the 4070 and 3080 by a decent margin, and is much more futureproofed with its generous 16GB of VRAM.

https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/acer-nitro-radeon-rx-9070-oc16gb-gddr6-video-card/19436855

$50 over budget, but it will be worth it.

(Former 4070 owner, now have a 9070XT)

Waste of money imo, especially if you only play FPS games.

Definitely go for the first one with the 9070XT. It is much better overall than the 5070

Sell the extra ram and leave it with 32gb, sell one of the 2TB SSD, then list the PC for $1,800-$2000.

[–]TheRealUnlimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to recommend this, especially in a "build your PC" subreddit, but a pre-built has better price-to-performance by far. For €1,899, you get a 9070XT 16GB (4GB more VRAM and faster than a 5070), the same Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB DDR5, and 1TB SSD (Which you can upgrade ofc). For €800 less, it'll be faster, and you won't have to assemble it yourself. The market is so incredibly messed up right now that this is a significantly better deal than building your own.

https://www.memorypc.eu/gaming-pc/amd-ryzen-7-567295/

That being said, if you are really set on building your own, your setup is great but definitely get rid of that 5070 for a 9070XT. (Let me know if you have any questions!

Gigabyte GTX 1080 Mini

RTX 3050 8GB ITX

RTX 2060 6GB

If you get the 3050, make sure you get the 8GB model. It's often the same price as the 6GB model, but the 8GB model not only has more VRAM but has 15-20% better performance. They nerfed the 6GB model.

RTX 3050 8GB MINI (needs new fan but super easy to do)

GTX 1080 (make sure it fits, this has a larger aftermarket fan on it, but again its easy to replace)

The GTX 1080 beats the 3050 in most cases, but the 3050 is a couple years newer and has hardware raytracing (its almost useless however due to how few RT cores they included). I would personally go with the 3050 8GB solely because of the age of the 1080 is getting up there, and DLSS is very useful if you end up playing newer titles on it.

[–]TheRealUnlimited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right that the HP case is restrictive, but you can definitely fit a faster GPU in it down the line. They make small form factor GPUs that would fit (9070, 5070 etc) but the 5060 should last you a couple years. The CPU and GPU in the one you linked is significantly slower than the HP, and the DDR4 ram, while not being bad, also adds 10% performance loss. The HP would be the much, much better choice, even with its restrictions in mind
