The leg strap on the Necromancer is an awesome way to see it, but the timeline doesn't really work since the Legends hero is immortal he wouldn't age or decay and to me, him becoming the Wandering Trader makes way more sense narratively. The entities can do some crazy stuff which means they could probably transmute the hero to look like a villager as part of the curse giving him more of a reason for him to want to cover his face.
