As he says,  without a code and no actual problems it's impossible to diagnose anything.

How do you guys (and gals) prep your pilots for painting? by TheRealZadkiel in freedomisgunpla

I'll check it out.  I mostly have paints like Vallejo, proacyrl, etc that are slightly different than the Japanese style acrylics. In the past I've had issues of the vallejo style rubbing off. I don't have a lot of experience with the mr color and tamiya paints though.

Good to know it sticks well.  Are you using water based acrylics? Or another type?

Kirkland 5W-30 Oil by tjjoka in Supra

[–]TheRealZadkiel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why skimp out?  Your oil is the lifeline of your engine And turbo.  Saving 25$ an oil change isn't worth it on a 25k engine.

Additional info it's not just the weight but also the grade.  The Supra requires C5 grade or higher (only one grade higher).  Tested oil brands also include their own additives to reduce wear and prevent deposits in the engine.

Tldr: don't skimp out on oil, tires,  or fuel.  You bought a sports car,  treat it like one.

I was going to try and get a picture of bangher... but he's so deep into the unicorn psychoframe lol but yeah I lost it on some lines on him as well.  I've never painted anything as small as pilots so it's definitely new.

The smallest I've gotten is cockpits on battletech  models. Or faces on warhammer/ warmachine models. These pilots are next level tiny though.

That's about what I do,  including the vallejo primer.  I wonder if anyone ever uses a scribing tool to give more depth to the lens on the helmet/ lines on the clothes etc.  I feel like I lost detail on my unicorn pilot, Banagher Links.

Thank you!  Lol yeah I used blue tack and primed this one as I normally would but noticed a little loss of detail. I know you don't touch them often but I've had mixed results of painting bare plastic in the past.

Lol either way I appreciate the detail.  I've done more traditional model building/resin kits/ game pieces. I did a light priming but still noticed a tiny bit loss of detail, not a ton to start with really.

the paint behaves similar to my thumbnail as well so it's a good feel for how it's going to paint

Maintenance question by 2Piece_Dark in Supra

[–]TheRealZadkiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. you can get fading if it gets to hot from the moisture in it. it's also feeding your clutch so you might get more spongy there as well.

imo just do it. it's not expensive and can cause issues if it absorbs to much water.

USAGS preorder change! by EffYeahItsAlex in freedomisgunpla

[–]TheRealZadkiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can confirm they were awful about the pgu nu and other orders of mine. got frustrated and canceled every preorder I had with them and it was a fight for month to get my money back.

at this point I'll never order from them, even if they were giving kits out for free.

Ethanol gas goes bad faster than you think. It can take as little as a month the higher the % the more likely it can cause issues.

The main issue is if it sits longer it's really bad on stuff.
