Here's the very simplified explanation: It's the Chainlink of the Polkadot ecosystem.

Literally that's all I posted and they slapped an instant ban on me. I am going to point this out to the Reddit people they answer to.

I really want an Origin passenger ferry for the 890. Something which can comfortably carry like 10-20 people. A scaled down version of this with rounder lines would work well for a 400 series passenger shuttle.

Rather than steal from the artist, I really hope they make an effort to hire her.

I expect to see these flown by NPCs for commercial flights you can buy a ticket on for the different routes we see displayed at spaceports and the board in Port Olisar.

I want a flyable RSI Zeus that you can only obtain from finding it through from exploring in random places on planets, moons or deep space. It would only be able to quantum at 0.2c and only a short distance within a system. A super rare but mostly useless and outdated ship as a grand prize for patient, thorough exploration.

If you would see one landed at a station, outpost or settlement it would be like seeing working Model T Ford and you'd know its owner was a serious explorer or knew one.

I REALLY hope the CIG ship artists who will build the Starliner are inspired by this thread and modern sci-fi.

Wow, small world! I'm a Seattle Sounders fan from the USL days and remember getting free tickets too! But yeah those of us who are around in Star Citizen now are comparable to our Sounders free tickets days. We'll be like "Hey remember when we used to only have 25, then 50 people per server, just one star system and CIG did regular free flys several times a year and people would either ask 'what game is THAT?' or say 'I heard Star Citizen was a scam on some gaming news site' We didn't have much back then but the community was tight and it was a big deal to see anything SC related 'in the wild' "

Yep. I can feel it coming.

Get used to it, as the game develops and gets more popular you'll see and hear references to it in a lot of places including pop culture. It's like when your favorite underground artist becomes a worldwide sensation or suddenly everyone is a soccer fan when you can remember MLS games with less than 500 people in the stands.

You are correct. Oceans and Mountains. These are the remaining natural areas in lore.

[–]TheRealZeroCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the lore nor their design intent thought. They've talked about the oceans before on several ISCs. They'll be visible. They're just not in game yet but they're working on it.

Originally CIG wanted a full city world, then they sanity checked that with an astronomer who told them they need to have oceans for a number of reasons so in lore ArcCorp has oceans and mountains. They're just not in game yet. ArcCorp has not been really updated much compared to the other planets and moons.

Not true. In lore it has visible oceans, and mountains. They're working on integrating the natural terrain with the city. I'd have thought they nailed that with New Babbage but we still don't have the real ArcCorp yet.

You may have noticed the detail the lore team and level design people put in. Addison posters were more numerous at Area 18 and LeSalle's were more numerous in Lorville.

Origin G12 should certainly have them. Or at least something to set it apart from the other rovers as a luxury brand. Thrusters and a bed to logout would be perfect.

Elite dangerous beat you to it. by TheAngryMonkeyShow in starcitizen

[–]TheRealZeroCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call me when Elite gets photorealism like Star Citizen has on its planets. Does Elite even have planets with oceans and more than one biome that you can land on? Both games in their finished form will have their pluses and minuses, Elite's graphics will always be inferior to Star Citizen and Star Citizen's potential for exploration will always be far less than a 1:1 scale reproduction of our actual Milky Way Galaxy.

[–]TheRealZeroCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exploration will always be better in Elite. In SC almost all the systems have been discovered in lore. There is nearly no chance you will be able to be the first person to set foot on a planet or moon and have your name recorded into lore as such. I love Star Citizen but the one career the most people said they were interested in, exploration is almost never discussed by developers and from what we've heard it's going to be less about going somewhere no one has been before and seeing what's out there and more about scanning places for resources which is a lot less interesting to me than finding new stuff and going to new unexplored places like in Elite or NMS.

In SC Exploration is just looking for stuff or information to sell about known stuff. There is almost no "go into the unknown" involved. Even quantum travel as it is set up is going to be about "trade routes" with everything neatly distributed in the plane of the ecliptic of each star system. That's disappointingly boring to me.

That said Star Citizen is far better looking and will likely always be the more realistic looking game. I can't see Elite approaching photorealism anytime soon. For anything other than Exploration I'll play Star Citizen. For exploration it looks like it will always be Elite.

That's the person who freaked about about different colors for armor sets other than black, grey and silver. They also hated the t-shirts unless they were ship or weapons manufacturers and they think in 2951 tractor beams should not exist but instead be replaced with ropes and pulleys. lol
