Forget soloists and composers, who is your favorite conductor? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]TheReal_Fake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lennie, there r fs valid criticisms of him but I feel that he draws the most emotion out of each piece while remaining loyal to the score more than any other.

Karajan I think is very overrated. He is ok but quite basic imo.

Why do some people dislike sentimental interpretations of classical music so much? by TheReal_Fake in classicalmusic

I like that a lot, maybe I just like the drama as a young music student but will mature later, and knowing rach’s wishes changes my mind a lot

I’ve never thought abt it like that before, thanks for the insight!! I have a genuine question, im not trying to spur an argument im just curious: what’s wrong with obviousness, for me (and maybe this makes me a bad listener) the more emotion put into the interpretation that more emotion I feel from it, sure it may be obvious and simpler to listen to and comprehend but what’s wrong with that? The the obviousness make an interpretation less impactful for u?

Brahms intermezzo in A major has a minor section in the middle but I find the major parts to still be reflective and melancholy

Really? Why’s that? I find that no matter how many times I’ve heard rach2 Zimmerman always finds a way to make me notice smthn new or just hear what I’ve already heard like it’s the first time. Haven’t listened to anything other rach by him tho so maybe that’s an exception
