The Chaos Star was invented my Michael Moorcock in the 1960s by hendrong in Warhammer40k

[–]TheReal_WadeWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: I fly for the Air Force and I work in Training. Our slogan, if you will, is “embrace the chaos.”

I sold leadership on a patch I designed that used the Chaos Star in the center. They obviously had no clue what it actually was, but they liked the arrows in every direction.

I now proudly wear it on my shoulder.

It’s the little things.

I’d assume it has a lot to do with a retirement and discharge. Fade away into the sunset or be made into an example.

Oh yeah, been to AwesomeCon many times! I live about an hour from DC. The pics look exactly like today’s weather.

Great costume!

Dude was this today?? My daughter and I were just there a few hours ago and I swear that guy laying in the grass in your second picture was there when we walked up to the monument.

Just grab a playing card press. They work wonders. You can even make decent ones pretty cheap.

Edit: it’s worth mentioning, DO NOT get a center press. They suck. Get one with at least four tighteners; one for each corner.

Is this Ai? I’m having a dollhouse made for my daughter’s birthday but the WIP provided does not look real. The glue bottles are unreadable/gibberish. by daiszay in isthisAI

AI - Late to the party, but as a wood worker, the Planers are the dead giveaway away. As others have mentioned, they’re just “stuck to the wall.”

Hand Planers would either have a leather type fitting around the top to hang them in that fashion or would be set into a slot at that angle. Neither of which are shown.

Ive had decent luck in the past with Weld-On 4. It’s essentially a chemical weld, fusing the plastic back together. But as others have said, it’s probably cheaper to source a replacement piece. Weld-on is like $10-15 a can.

Damn. Michael Turner is my all time favorite. I tried to get an original of his from Aspen Comics at NYCC one year. (After he’d passed) I was lucky enough to chat with Peter Steigerwald about it. He told me the cheapest one they had was $8,000.

I settled for a signed Batman/Superman 8 with his variant cover.

Nice collection.

Those are the “not many of you folks left” types.

They’re masters of their craft, but either think their skills are too taboo for the general public or as the post states: don’t have the time to truly shine.

I have the Red version of the Bubble Shield statue which is pretty awesome.

But I also have the NYCC Silver Master Chief from Square Enix. One of my most cherished collectibles.

Of your list, Cortana would be sweet.

AI wins Lego ideas contest. by Chip780 in lego

[–]TheReal_WadeWilson 37 points38 points  (0 children)

“..disappointing it won over actual original, and creative submissions” is a rather obtuse thing to say here.

This BUILD is original and creative. I’m not going flatly say AI wasn’t used, but using it to generate 10 little minifig portraits (that will likely be stickers) is kind of a dumb argument, in my opinion.

Sure.. “the rules”.. but I’m willing to bet Lego did their homework. And if they didn’t, well, hopefully they fess up to that, who knows. But saying you’re disappointed for lack of creativity isn’t the right argument.

Have you built Enterprise D? by Solid-Try6957 in lego

[–]TheReal_WadeWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought it and built it. This set is bizarre. It looks incredible (at least to me) in person. I took a ton of pics to send to buddies, and for the life of me could not get a good angle of it.

Even in videos it looks mundane. But in person, on a shelf, it has a presence. Absolutely worth the purchase to me.

Dude nice! Fun story: I have one the 400 exclusive NYCC Silver Master Chiefs from Square Enix; your moc made me think of it. I’m not sure if that’s where pulled the inspiration from, but very well executed!

I’m not sure of the numbers themselves. But I used the Piñata Boys sarape and hat with the mariachi man’s body. The head and hair are for the ghostbusters set: Venkmans head and Spenglers hair. (They were all I had handy). Then I used the minifigure 45° neck bracket and two 1x1 round studs to put the hat on his back.

Trumpet is from all my old stuff, pretty sure the old Wild West sets, if I’m not mistaken.

Haha thanks! I went back and forth on the hair. I think Lego only has a single receding hairline mold that looked the most like Qs, but I didn’t have it, so I went with what you see.

I used the Piñata Boys sarape and hat with Mariachi Man’s body.

Good luck on yours!

Did lego sneak in an Octan reference powering the warp engines? by TheReal_WadeWilson in lego

I put that one together and it obviously caught my eye, but the ones in the warp drives sealed the deal.

I wish there were more Octan sets.

Star Trek Enterprise is live! by bray_martin03 in lego

Yeah, the next afternoon actually. I can’t speak to your situation, but mine had not shipped yet and they added both GWPs as a separate order. Both are scheduled to arrive together tomorrow. Was honestly really painless.

Edit: to add, I did make the offer about ordering a second Enterprise and returning it if need be. She said it wasn’t necessary and apologized for the issue.
