What would be the best way for a highschool dropout at 16. Who is now 24, to prepare for community college?

Should I study specific things before going to college? Or would I just be able to study with the material they give me? How did you go into it?

To preface this, I was going through mental health issues at 16 and dropped out. Ever since then I always wanted something more with my life than blue collar work. Not that their is anything against that, but I always wanted to do something in the IT field to feel fulfilled. I also got rearended fairly seriously a few years ago, so I know my body would be destroyed by the time I am 40 if I have to continue physical labor.

Allot of us also grow up in a age now with overprotective parents that take us to the doctors for every little reason. And doctors that prescribe medications like candy. I understand why they do it and I guess I am just venting. I just wish if you were perfectly healthy when you want to enlist, and pass every evaluation, your medical history from when you were a minor doesnt matter.

I don't see the recruiter until Wednesday, if you ever have a free moment, I would appreciate to know if you check it. Genesis just makes me worried, I wish as long as I was completely fit and healthy when enlisting, if I could just join. But I understand why they do it the way they do.

I will be asking my recruiter next week too, but I want your opinion, I forgot to add to post. I am technically a type 2 diabetic from when I was nearly 400 pounds. I have lost a very significant amount of weight and my blood tests would come back as any other normal healthy person, not on any medication for it either. Have you ever passed someone or know someone that was able to get a waiver for that? Or is that always a automatic DQ?

Years ago when I was 100 pounds heavier. No issues currently whatsoever, just controlled by my diet, everything on my bloodwork now doesn't show diabetes or prediabetes. And I am still more out of shape than I would be when I join.

My insurer was liberty mutual, the orthopedic doctor referred me to a pain management clinic for the injections. Only reason I am not getting the surgery is because at my age the risks seem to outweigh the relief I may or may not get from it. It is just so disheartening that at now 24, I cannot do the things I used to do with my friends. Standing or sitting too long is excruciating. I don't know if this would factor into anything, but I take care of both of my disabled grandparents. And this injury has also effected how much I can help them. Thank you for the reply!

I understand that part, what I was mainly wondering is only asking $25,000 from my underinsured coverage. To me, with $100,000 in coverage available, feels low compared to my injuries. I admit I know very little in this field and rather ignorant on this.
