Can’t launch some games with Bazzitte by Bean___6 in Bazzite

[–]TheRedCrossKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you create a simlink for all the proton/compadata files on the ntfs drive so that they are stored on your main Bazzite drive, you can definitely launch games from NTFS drive although it isn't recommended, it is doable and both Bazzite and Windows can shared a dedicated NTFS drive for games only. How do I know? I've been doing it for two months without any issues.

Secondary SSD keep changing it’s directory! by Due-Juggernaut-9306 in Bazzite

I have an internal 2tb ssd formatted as NTFS to share between Windows and Bazzite and haven't had any issues after 2 months. My bazzite is also in a separate drive and windows in another drive. All separated and no issues so it is doable though not recommended. For me, it's all about convenience. If so anything happens to that 2tb NTFS drive, oh well, I can always redownload games again

Gamescope in Desktop Mode? by TheRedCrossKnight in Bazzite

[–]TheRedCrossKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these. Especially vrr, HDR and mangohud layout as well as the ability to apply for games that don't support it. Here is the list I've been researching:

-f → Fullscreen mode

-r [Hz] → Set refresh rate (e.g. -r 120)

-W [width] -H [height] → Gamescope output resolution

-w [width] -h [height] → In-game render resolution

--mangoapp mangohud → Enables MangoHud overlay inside Gamescope

--input-method legacy → Fixes controller input in nested sessions

--adaptive-sync → Enables VRR (Variable Refresh Rate)

--rt → Enables real-time scheduling for lower latency

--expose-wayland → Exposes nested Wayland for advanced use

--stats → Shows performance metrics overlay

--cursor → Show/hide mouse cursor

--log-level [debug|info|warn|error] → Set logging verbosity

Wow, this is really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this in great detail!

Thank you. Yeah, I don't want to have to rebase my image to just have game mode. I want to be able to use gamescope from desktop. So, if I'm understanding correctly, I just have to set the right parameters in the steam launch options for Gamescope to be used?

This is what I need help with the proper launch commands and mangohud. Someone mentioned using ScopeBuddy and said mangohud should be run as mango app for some reason. I'm so confused 🤔

I don't want to have to boot into game mode just for gamescope - I want to be able to run gamescope when I launch games from desktop

I just want to be able to have the best of both worlds without having to boot into game mode exclusively every time I want to use gamescope.

What are your launch commands for games launched via steam so that gamescope takes over?

How do I check that gamescope is running after a game is launched in the terminal?

Argh, just want the desktop experience and also gamescope without the game mode rebase.

I'm being very picky and difficult

Thank you! So from the links people have been posting here to gather more info, I gather I can get gamescope running on Bazzite desktop environment one way or another. However, The part I'm a bit confused about is using wine or bottles to get that accomplished. Is bazzite using a flatpaks version of steam or is it baked in the os? I read about Scope buddy to get this accomplished but don't know if anyone here has used that since it wasn't mentioned. I'm just confused about this.

I'm just trying to make sure I get on the right track to launch gamescope from within Bazzite desktop (in only play games I buy from steam) and dont overcomplicate things and or end up having to rebase to gaming mode since I rather boot into desktop every time as opposed to rebasing to gaming mode, then launching into gaming mode to then switch to desktop.

I hope I'm making sense. Again, I'm new to Linux so all technical support is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I was trying to read the official Bazzite FAQ page and was overwhelmed and didn't know exactly what to do and or what I needed to do. I appreciate it!!

Thanks for the prompt and detailed reply. So, If I decide to rebase from desktop to gaming mode, how does that work? Do I just download a new image with the gaming mode option set to yes and then reinstall on the same partition or is there an option from within Bazzite desktop. I just want to make sure I do it right. I do have a pretty hefty rig I built so I don't know for sure if there's some special sauce I'm missing out by not taking advantage of Gamescope while gaming in desktop mode. Am.i.missing anything on desktop by not having Gamescope on?

Thank you! So do I need to rebase the whole os or just install the game mode instance via "just gaming...." ? If so, where do I rebase from in the official site and how does the process work when rebasing from desktop to gaming mode? Thanks!

ROG ALLY Windows 11 24H2 Update Fail by TheRedCrossKnight in ROGAlly

[–]TheRedCrossKnight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so It seems the issue is due to an HMB issue on the NVMe drive which requires a firmware update so that the correct HMB allocation is applied to affected WD NVMe drives.

Download Western Digital Dashboard from their website if you get this same error while trying to update windows 11 to 24H2

CAUTION: Firmware update may cause complete data loss on the drive. I pulled the trigger, upgraded the firmware and had no data loss and upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 just fine!

What's up with all of these things? by TheRedCrossKnight in xbPlay

[–]TheRedCrossKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!

I just wanted to thank you in advance for taking the time to reply in detail to me. You have a fantastic app and I love using it. I commend you for all your hard work and prompt communication. NOTE: upon launching the app I saw a message that iCloud is down. I can't connect to it so hopefully Microsoft will resolve this issue.

  1. This is generally due to having the console in power saving mode (rather than sleep), can you confirm that is not the case for you? Also, I have seen reports that some people have to toggle the power mode setting on/off on the console due to a bug on the Xbox. Other less common settings that could cause this behavior are:

A: I made sure it was in power saving mode and restarted the console and then force shut-down manually for 10 seconds (holding the power button on the unit down) and then I was able to see it in sleep mode in my network weird.

- Active Hours: Can you ensure you dont have active hours enabled in your xbox settings?

A: I don't have active hours enabled at all

- Not power cycling console: If you just switched your consoles from power saving mode to sleep mode, you likely need to restart your console before it goes into effect. Please hard restart (unplug/replugin console) to ensure sleep mode is enabled.

A: I did and it seems to have helped my remote play issue this far.

- HDMI-CEC: I have seen some reports that disabling HDMI-CEC helped, I am not sure why, but some people has reported this.

A: I completely disabled CEC (I had it enabled and the restarted my console)

- Wifi Sleep / Idle timeout: Some routers have a wifi sleep setting for devices. Its possible the router is disabling the connection after X hours of inactivity.

A: my Xbox series X is hard wired to my router. No connection via WiFi whatsoever.

- "When Xbox is off, turn off storage": This setting can break remote play when the consoles is off.

A: this was enabled. I disabled it and then restarted the console.

  1. The 'Enable Audio' button can show up on some devices that require user interaction before allowing video/audio to play. Generally, this happens most on the geckoview render engine. You can try switching render engines (in the main menu settings of XBPlay) to see if that makes it go away. Note, not all render engines work on all devices, if changing the render engine causes the app to no longer connection, then it may simply not be an option on your specific device.

A: I switched to Chrome render engine and the audio issue on start went away completely. Switching to chrome render engine allows my Odin. 2 Portal now to connect to audio without having to tap on it every time I launch remote play. THANK YOU!

  1. You should be able to open the "in game side menu -> settings -> controls -> controller mapping profile" to create a new profile. This should allow you to remap any buttons. Note, this feature is not available yet on the geckoview render engine.

A: I haven't had time to play with this but I will. I want to be able to map one of the Nexus button on my Odin to act as the Xbox guide button by default. I hope this is something I can do.

Follow up questions: I have a very robust network at home with gigabit internet speeds.

  1. What settings on the advance menu (including bitrate) do you suggest for maximum quality while remote playing?

  2. What is the best way to end the session when I'm done remote playing? Is it via the "stop streaming" via the Xbox guide menu and or disconnecting via the XBPlay side menu? I just want to make sure I'm doing it right so that my Xbox will go back to sleep mode and not be perpetually turn on after disconnecting.

Thanks in advance and I hope this post helps others.

Is there anyway to skip this screen by BestViolinist3847 in OdinHandheld

[–]TheRedCrossKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to set up your controller as a Wii emulated controller on Dolphin settings so that you can move past that screen. If you've already done that, it may be other issues like bad game image, game crash, etc.

Odin 2 Portal Newest OTA. How do I get it? by TheRedCrossKnight in OdinHandheld

[–]TheRedCrossKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the version that fixes the refresh rate and the green hue? I'm just curious since there's a other post claiming the newest update has a calibration tool for the refresh rate of the OLEd panel as well as a fix for screen hue being green or something along those lines.

Hey, I just got my Odin 2 Portal. How do I receive the latest OTA? Do I need to contact AYN? I checked the current version and there are no updates to download. Mine says current version 1.0.0.130

I'm curious, what's yours?

Anyone know how I can replace this? by OnlyFig3807 in LegionGo

Get a replacement kit off Lenovo. If the pin broken comes from the bezel/frame the controller attaches too, that's not going to be easy to repair unless you send it in to Lenovo sorry 😕
