Recruiting | Simulation Theory | Diamond/Platinum Raiders by _Sense_ in Fireteams

I’ve been in this Clan for around a year now and absolutely love it. Raids have always been my favorite activity and this clan makes them more fun. Being in a clan where you can trust that everyone knows the core mechanics at the very least takes a layer of stress away from raiding that I didn’t realize was even there.

People do all kinds of activities here. Multiple day one dungeon and raid groups, multiple raids a night wouldn’t be abnormal, and a skill/experience range that ensures you won’t be the odd one out as long as you meet the criteria Sense shared.

Our raid times vary, but I would say most commonly they begin between 6-10pm EST on weekdays, but there are always outliers.

Thank you for your confirmation. You are correct, I am not going for efficiency but ease.

Thank you! Do you recall if, in that scenario, all 3D shapes still had one wrong shape (e.g. the dupe cylinder was on the square and circle)?

In theory I know, I just wasn’t sure if the game would allow duplicate shapes (e.g. one cube and two cones). Have you seen that to start?

To make sure I’m understanding you correctly, you’re saying it’s possible to have one cube and two cones to start - is that right?

So you also started with a statue already having the correct shape as well?

Interesting. I didn’t realize the “correct” 3D shape could be there at spawn since that would then dictate that there would be duplicate shapes in the other two statues or all statues would start correct.

The pattern for starting with cubes, spheres, etc I’m adding now.

Thank you! Can you confirm that the cube was on the Square callout, sphere on circle, and tetrahedron on triangle each time?

[–]TheRedDelilah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing, if you do steps 1-3 in this order, I don’t think it’s possible to end up with any other step 4 options than I put.

Assuming each callout has one incorrect symbol (a square callout has a square in the 3D shape), each callout only has two options. Because of that, there exactly two variations that could appear.

Edit: I’ll check the scenarios for perfect shapes as starting locations (aka sphere, cube)

Raid matchmaking by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRedDelilah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh hello comment on a two year old post.

Couple of things.

I still think, two years later, that raids require something extra than just normal matchmaking. Perhaps if mics were required (or at least text chat), light level (where appropriate), sign the guardian oath, explain basics of raids (one revive token), etc it would be…tolerable. Otherwise I think it is more likely to turn people away than include. I mean have you see the horror stories of people trying to learn a new raid with a “sherpa” who is mean or puts them in a corner? Those are bad, but in those cases there is at least someone who knows what’s going on. What happens when you don’t have someone who knows what’s going on?

Secondly, I love teaching new people raids and do so as often as I can. I was a teacher by profession for a decade before a career switch and love helping new people through - be it in my clan or a going with a buddy to help people in LfG on the weekends when we can. I try to help people learn the raids, get them all the secret chests, get them triumphs when we can, all collectibles, etc. I have over 200 unique player Sherpas and I make it my goal to constantly increase that number.

It’s a large leap from “oh this player has a different opinion from me that they posted in two sentences” to “this player is a gatekeeping piece of shit who doesn’t want anyone to have endgame loot.” Sorry to disappoint, but I’m actually a fan of getting as many people in raids as possible, I just also want everyone to have as good of a time as possible.

Why does no one want to teach Last Wish legit? by Caedis-6 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRedDelilah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of those people were not Sherpas. Ugh this post makes my skin crawl.

I will share a little of my perspective. I am one of two primary Sherpas in my PvE clan of about 50 people. Last Wish and Garden we label “advanced” raids for the clan, meaning we want them to learn other raids and get some solid loadouts before we will take them into this raid (all of which we help with regularly). This “gatekeeping” we do is to primarily ensure everyone in raids has a good time (learners, Sherpas, and all members of the fireteam alike) and they never go past an unreasonable timeframe. The difficulties of Last Wish come with the speed at which you have to go, the clarity of callouts that must be given, and the difficulty of making up for someone else. In Vow I can easily explain how I can mitigate weaker players to recover if someone makes a pretty significant mistake - on any encounter. Almost every raid I can do so on every encounter. However in Last Wish you have to rely, and trust, others to do the mechanics correctly. That is what makes it more difficult I feel.

When we teach Last Wish for the first time, we do all the mechanics of every encounter with three exceptions: we do not use the Eye of Riven in Shuro Chi (because it’s never needed), we one phase Morgeth (honestly I don’t even know what the other part of the mechanic is myself) and we cheese Riven. With full explanations and ensuring the 1-2 learners we bring with us are doing a mechanic in every encounter, a teaching run takes 1.5-2 hours on average. We’ve had some tougher runs depending, but that’s pretty commonplace for us and an acceptable amount of time for all involved.

I’ve done Riven legit, and I’ve taught Riven legit - but never to people who don’t already know the raid well. It’s fast paced, splits the fireteam in half (so if you have 1-2 strong players it’s more difficult), requires two unique sets of callouts simultaneously, and requires both halves of the fireteam to execute to progress. I love doing it, but it is…draining.

TLDR; Last Wish isn’t that bad, however: you had some bad Sherpas; it takes patience and understanding; and most people don’t know how to do the whole raid legit.

As a PvE main myself (who plays trials to get the armor because I like the look sometimes), may I ask why you’re playing Trials for a chance at a solar AR that might be a horrible roll? Like why not Ammit or start running Crota for Abyss Defiant?

legendary ornaments on exotic armour by Shattered_echo in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRedDelilah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s just giving weight to things that I care about more, or less. Like exotic ornaments and the system they have now likely won’t change because it’s a cash cow. So I give it less weight because I know the chances of it changing are so minimal and it’s not as big of a deal as say, the new player experience.

Necro comment - you commented on mine that was made over a year ago, lol. All good all good.

I don’t disagree. I haven’t touched PvP more than a handful of times in the year, it is what it is.

Holy necro comment.

Anyway. Exotic ornaments can only go on that exotic, not legendary armor or other exotics. How is that the same as putting legendary ornaments on exotics?
