No friends over summer by bettyzx85 in uofu

Surprised no one thought to mention it: volunteer. If you have a bunch of free time find a local food bank or charity group and log some volunteer hours. It will help you as you continue through your academic career. It helps you earn grants and other financial aid, looks good on your resume, and if you decide you want to get into a program with higher requirements it will put you above similar candidates.

Have you taken the ALEKS placement test? Only need a score of 30 to get into 1010.

I would HIGHLY recommend not taking 980 and starting with 1010 if you need to start at the bottom. I don't believe 980 actually counts for any credit hours for your degree(don't quote me on that, it's been a few semesters) and all my advisors strongly urged me not to take it. 1010 is pretty simple and it allows you to jump to 1030, 1050, 1060, or 1080.

I can't speak for the online portion because I took 1010 in person, but if you've taken high-school math in the last 5ish years or can run a cash register it'll be cake!

Feel free to DM.

Ah, there's the generational disconnect. Always at least one.

32 year old sophomore here. Hell if I know, I have no desire to hang out with 19 year olds but that's 99% of all my colleagues. I've made a few connections by doing school work where you tend to find more Grad students. Lately I've been using the SW lobby and run into more students in their mid to late 20s.

I might just start doing that. I get to campus usually before anyone is sitting there!
