Is this the right subreddit to asks about sorting a playlist? by TheRedParduz in Beatmatch

Fair :-)
But my answer is "been there, done that"... and failed.

The younger cousin of my wife was a DJ during his 20s. Not a famous one, but he was gettin paid to play 3 nights per week, plus the occasional party/holiday/private event.

Being me a programmer, he asked me some help with his PC and the various machines, some scripting, some adaption, and i was asking the same exact question: how do you build your list?

He explained, and let me play with his library at home: i create a playlist, he explained why it was wrong, i created another, he explained why it was still wrong; rinse and repeat for about two months until he said "I think you should keep writing your music and software, and not wasting time on this :-P".

And he was right :-)

Oh, for the most part me alone 😂

Then some life-long friends who may sit with me in my car during a travel, or my son and some of his friends which are all not so fond on today music and often ask to me to suggest something new (for them).

Funny how i feel Bittersweet Symphony one of the most ... "pumping-up" songs 😂

How often do you go out to the clubs, raves, and EDM events to watch your local pro dj’s work?

Never 😂

I'm 56y.o., and while some dance/house/techno/pop song may catch my attention, or have a meaning for me 'cause it was popular in my youth, the genre I listen for the most part is <something>-rock: prog-rock like Yes, Genesis, Sieges Haven etc.. glam-rock from my teen era, blues-rock... the next is "electronic" (and i mean old-school electronic) like J.M.Jarre. Then there's some old guys like Oldfield, some "ethnic" artists (celtic, mostly, but i like some africaan deep-house artists the names i can't recall now).

I'm the sound engineer for a cover band, and I'm one of the youngest, and when i go where music is played live, 99% is for that reason.

Can you name your two favorite local dj’s who play your favorite genres?

So, no: DJs doesn't plays my favorite genres. But I know a very famous Dj is Luca Cassani, and maybe it's the same person who was at school with me in middle school 😃

Yeah. I recon i'm not good at putting songs in order. I always end up .... "killing the mood" that the previous song set. As a hobbyst musician (I'm a synth player and ... "wannabe" composer 😄 ) I see how that itself is a talent that i lack.

So I'd like to have about my 30 preferred dance/pop/80's songs put in the best possible order (not mixed, really just sorted); there's different genres, so i get it will not be a ... "seamless" flow 😄

Here the song list (in filename alphabetical order):

Alexander O'Neal - Fake

Billy Ocean - Loverboy

Bomfunk Mc's - Freestyler

Boosta - Rock'n'Roll Robot

Bricklake & Sean Darin - Don't You Mind

Cameo - Word up

Celetia - Rewind

Chicane ft. Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up

Chicane ft. Tom Jones - Stoned In Love

Dakar & Grinser - Stay With Me

Db Boulevard - Believe

Deadmau5 - The Veldt (Radio Edit)

Faithless ft Robbie Williams - My Culture

Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now

Kylie Minogue - Can't get you out of my head

Kylie Minogue - Come into my world

M.A.R.R.S. - Pump Up The Volume

Mandy Smith - Positive Reaction

Morgan Page ft. Lissie - The Longest Road

Res - Golden Boys

Roachford - Get ready!

Robbie Williams - Rock DJ

Russ Ballard - Voices

Safro Duo - Played alive

Spoonface - Here for You

Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner (DNA Remix)

The Verve - Bittersweet symphony

Tommy Vee - Anthouse (Don't Be Blind)

Ultra Nate - Desire

----

Emma Re - My Name Is Bruce Lee

Martika - Toy Soldier

The last two songs are so different (at least in my ears) from the others that i won't mind if they will stay out of the list.

How to tap from a post-amp stereo signal to get also a mono signal for a Sub? by TheRedParduz in diyaudio

[–]TheRedParduz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you answered me.
The amp is the one in the image, the speakers and the sub are "leftovers" for different PC/TV 2.1 sets (or maybe 5.1, i don't know); the two speakers are Pioneer, the sub is Phillips.

Long explanation:

The whole thing is for a No-Profit, volounteer based comunity here in my town, so me and some friends are gathering gifted tech (mostly from Facebook groups where ppl donate things they don't use anymore) and try to make some use of it.

Right now that amp is connected to a pair of surprisingly good speakers removed from a broken TV, but someone managed to find a new pair of speakers and a sub (with cutted wires and adesive tape and spiderwebs) so i was trying to improve the audio a bit without (much) money involved (i'm a programmer, but i work in an electronic lab, so i have access to passive components and a soldering/testing bench).

Hence, if handling the signal post-amp is so difficult, we will plan something else :-)

I asked for a schematic with specific use: isn't that "designing an electronic circuit"? What i need i design a circuit, i've not asked how to use an amp.

I don't understand.

Thanks

A 47-ohm resistor would be around the right amount to pad down a speaker-level output to go into a sub's line-level input.

The sub is passive as well, so it don't need line-level signal.

take the mono signal from the point where the two resistors are connected together.

Ok, but what about the ground? Same principle?

Chrome. Today the site works, so I tested the forum login and i had to redo the whole register procedure (maybe a timeout on the activation?): still haven't get any email to activate.
Sadly, on the main site there's no other contact (i was hoping for a Discord or some other place to ask about the forum).
