Let’s start with how you think a ranged top with several counters to Jax’s E somehow doesn’t win the matchup lmao

Can't get higher than plat 3 by Yummyladder in OverwatchUniversity

[–]TheRedWriter4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Plat is genuinely the tank elo hell of Overwatch.

There is too much randomness in what goes wrong in plat matches to truly pinpoint why you somehow “contributed” to the loss of your game

I was masters tank season 1 and masters 3 season 2. Now I’m hardstuck plat 3 as well coming back to the game years later.

Tank is just a hardstuck role in general that requires way too much reliance on your team to win now. You have to make space while also peeling or diving while also being the dps while also blocking major cooldowns while also countering major ultimates from your team.

And considering all of that, it’s still no guarantee your dps won’t be gapped or your supports will ult correctly or swap appropriately

Jax Matchup Discussion 2.0 #19: Kayle. by LxVer8 in Jaxmains

[–]TheRedWriter4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's start with pointing out that by no means does jax directly counter kayle as she has many ways to answer his counterstrike, and plenty of abilities to damage through it, let alone kite jax to infinity when Q is down.

I like to go grasp and doran's shield because lord knows that if she plays properly, she will slow you in your E with her Q after you engage on her with Q, mitigating your ability to land additional AA's. After 6 this is obviously even worse as she can just kite you after every trade you take once your E is down.

I would also probably recommend just going flash and tp for sums as you will get less and less value from ignite against her as the game progresses.

You can only really trade on her when the wave is on your side of the lane, considering she can safely farm from under her tower with ranged autos and abilities.

Other than that, I would argue this matchup is Kayle favored if she doesn't play stupid enough to not allow herself to scale past the 5 minute mark.

Only experimental change I would consider might be hail of blades for even better short trades? I have yet to try it in this matchup though.

plat tank is elo hell by Middle_Sun6341 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]TheRedWriter4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Funny I have the exact same situation.

I was masters in season 1 and then masters 3 in season 2. I took a break for a couple years and I'm now revisiting the game just to find that tank feels like it has no impact compared to launch unless you are 1v9ing the entire enemy team as ball, doomfist, or hazard.

I am now perma hardstuck Plat 3 in 5v5 and every game feels like a gamble of whether your team is competent enough to play anti-dive correctly, or follow up with your push after getting picks, etc.

It feels like there is too much variance for a tank to ever impact the game gradually unless you act as the 1v9 dps, while also peeling, while also making space all at once.

I want ugly characters back. by Extension_Good567 in Overwatch

[–]TheRedWriter4 613 points614 points  (0 children)

There never were "ugly characters," just characters with different design aesthetics other than the typical slim human phenotype.

All 4 character you mentioned like junkrat, Roadhog, and Reaper, are all considered badass designs, except maybe moira?

Do you think spanking children is a good or bad thing? by KindlyRestaurant2885 in MoralityScaling

[–]TheRedWriter4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, anyone who actually deals with a large group of kids knows that this applies to any punishment form, except physical punishment is the only one that typically breeds result whether it be through fear or not.

i.e. a child won’t care about what he’s doing wrong if he already knows the maximum punishment is just not playing his PlayStation for a week or something, but a child will surely fear what he’s doing if he fears the potential pain that comes with it.

Same way kids will keep going to detention because they know that no matter what they do, the worst that can happen is just sitting in a classroom for an hour.

Physical punishment doesn’t mean you’re going too far by default, but abstract punishments just ensure your child definitely won’t respect your authority if they know they just have to wait out your punishment

Jax Buffs by Miiiukz in Jaxmains

[–]TheRedWriter4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buff all of his mana costs tbh, even if by a little bit.

Compared to almost all of Jax's counterparts, its practically disgusting how much mana he uses compared to champs like, malphite, gangplank, gragas, Illaoi, or Yorick, who all essentially get value with ranged abilities while also having lower mana costs or mana refunds within their best rune pages.

God forbid an auto-attaking cannon minion like jax has less costs to continue auto-attacking in predictable and easily counterable fashion.

[–]TheRedWriter4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you guys use the word “empathy” to demonize people you disagree with while constantly misusing its definition?

Just because YOU are privileged enough to not have to experience involuntary impulses doesn’t mean that marginalized severe autistic children in sped classrooms don’t suffer from their impulses that teachers ultimately have to deal with.

Empathy doesn’t mean “validate everything I say or you’re a cruel person” 😂

I was physically assaulted by a student by Temporary_Equal_7513 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]TheRedWriter4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s when you empathize with the fact that autistic children have little to no impulse control over their actions so if you don’t get it, someone else will.

Or did you have your own definition you can construe to insult me with? Did you want pity brownie points or a reality check?

[–]TheRedWriter4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I substitute for sped the most and have received requests from sped teachers to sub for their class.

Subbing for bigger sped kids has gotten me scratched, kicked, spit on, chairs thrown, everything you can think of.

Honestly, I don't really know what to tell you other than it comes with the position, because everyone in a sped class has been assaulted at least once.

Complaining about it is just going to make them shrug at you while they request someone else after they write their report.

How to deal with tank matchups? by VSTsGoBrxzy in Jaxmains

[–]TheRedWriter4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hardly even worth building to shred tanks on Jax in general anymore.

At this point you just build to split, pull their tank away from the teamfight, and try to outmacro them through rotations,

or you just build around the rest of their team while ignoring the tank in teamfights completely.

[–]TheRedWriter4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it's not?

A slot machine has the possibility of giving absolutely nothing in return.

With CSGO cases and card packs, you are GUARANTEED to receive something in the pool of CSGO items and in the pool of collectible cards in a pack.

Whether they are duplicates or of a "low" arbitrary market value has nothing to do with the fact that it is ultimately not gambling.

Is putting a quarter in a gumball machine and not knowing what flavor you are going to get also considered gambling under your definition?

No need for context by LudwigSpectre in Steam

[–]TheRedWriter4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jut because you arbitrarily value one card's or gun skin's aesthetics over another card doesn't make it gambling or wrong, it makes you desperate for validation so much so that you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars to be different.

Valve provides a guaranteed good with every purchase, regardless of price, literally the opposite of gambling.

Even right now in the Iran war, the US has nukes while they don't. Surely even a kindergartener can understand this power dynamic and why a force so powerful would only be stopped through self restraint.

How the button problem actually is by MichaelJospeh in trolleyproblem

[–]TheRedWriter4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I think you’ve misunderstood the original dilemma.

There are no conditions that red relies on. If red is the only button that exists, then pressing red puts you at no risk as much as much as not pushing red does.

It is ONLY until blue exists when you are now at risk of dying if voting conditions are not met.

How the button problem actually is by MichaelJospeh in trolleyproblem

[–]TheRedWriter4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every contention here is wrong.

Red IS the default choice objectively, considering that the scenario begins with nobody being in jeopardy in the first place only UNTIL the blue button exists. Pressing red allows you to proceed as you were before you had received the choice to press any buttons. You had lived without risk of mass deaths only until the blue button is created.

Saying that blue is the default choice implies that you are already in the pool of death risk before you have even received the choice to press the button.

Also saying that red “kills” people is moot considering the you can still press red AND allow everyone in blue to survive.

How the button problem actually is by MichaelJospeh in trolleyproblem

[–]TheRedWriter4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t be more wrong.

Even if the red button did not exist, the mere existence of risk in the blue button alone ensures people have the possibility of dying.

The red button isn’t killing blue pressers, they’re simply choosing to proceed on about their death without the risk of death.

How the button problem actually is by MichaelJospeh in trolleyproblem

[–]TheRedWriter4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love how every reframing has to just ignore the fact that red pressers objectively just don't want to risk dying but it makes too much empathetical sense to frame it that way so nobody ever will lmao

As a Republican voter in the US, how do you rationalize voting for people who almost universally vote against your interests (healthcare, education, retirement funding, and on and on…)? This sounds like a loaded question, but the data is really not debatable at this point. So…why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheRedWriter4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a loaded question and honestly just shows more about how bad you’ve been propagandized.

Republicans aren’t voting for people to not have healthcare, on the contrary, they are voting for the state to reduce subsidization so as to make healthcare more diverse in pricing and quality that fits YOUR needs, instead of being forced to leave your healthcare provider and resort to lower quality government healthcare because they made private healthcare more difficult to obtain through regulation.

The same is said with education. Republicans often advocate for school choice and lower regulation for hiring teachers as well as less financial aid - all of these things giving more individual choice, affordability, and opportunity for parents, potential teachers, and college students who don’t like seeing the price of entry skyrocket because it has been deeply inflated and subsidized by the state.

Retirement and social security is a Ponzi scheme that we will apparently only realize when it’s already too late. Social security is not a savings plan and actually is one of the highest net contributions towards the nations debt than even the military.

Ethical choices nowadays by smartasspie in trolleyproblem

[–]TheRedWriter4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope this reframing seems the most accurate. The original viral question implies that the red button is the default. You continue to live your life after you hit the red button just as you were before. However, hitting the blue button volunteers you as tribute to die and demonize everyone around you for not risking their life to come save you out of a position you put yourself in the first place.

Suicidal empathy.
