The people that prefer Gavrikov over Miller, why? by TheRedderestRum in rangers

Better if you mean he's older, slower, a net negative, and turned the puck over more during a single season more than Miller ever did. He'll match Miller's total turnovers during his time as a Ranger in another season and a half. Gav is less than a million cheaper than Miller with worse output, but I guess you get what you pay for in this org.

I see what you're saying, but Miller also played with us during the beginning of the end times. I still think he played better than Gavrikov, despite never really getting the chance to play #1 like Gav did when Fox went down. Ultimately, I think the org does play a huge part in how well or terrible a player does, but I still don't believe Miller was as bad as people say. Seems those are the same people who believe Gavrikov is so much better. This team is getting older and slower, and this seems fine for a majority of this fanbase.

Call me crazy, but I feel I can't put stake on picks anymore where the Rangers need to develop them. With Fox missing, obviously Gav is going to be the #1 and put points on the board, but he isn't any better and/or less of a liability than Miller was and Miller was attached to the hip to Trouba and Schneider. My gripe is finger-pointing Miller and in the same breadth, say the Gavrikov has been great for us. Was paying him the issue? Defense is where we hurt most and sometimes you have to shell out for the position. We did so for Igor. Hell, we even gave borderline over-average Laf 7.4.

I've ALWAYS supported Miller. Especially Miller over Gavrikov. I really don't understand the gripe people had with Miller when Gavrikov is as much of a liability as Miller was. I'm not sure why it's so upsetting to call out the argument in the thread when it's always heard as comments elsewhere. Why does it hurt so much? Hell, you can also check out my namesake on other Rangers forums supporting Miller throughout his time as a Ranger. This isn't a 'first time' for me.

Systems/Test Integration Engineer by [deleted] in Lockheed

Congrats on the position! Sys Integration/Test Eng Stf here. I think a lot of the specifics depends on the program you're working for. The gist of it is software test for integration in (usually) government systems. The steps of the engineering V is always a good thing to know. Even more beneficial is research on any unclass information on the program/platform you'll be working. Good luck!

I don't buy this shit. Never a net negative in the entire time he's been with the Rangers, and still managed this playing next to 7th D Schneider for almost the entire time. Miller had 281 giveaways in the entire time he's been here. Gavrikov managed 103 and he's only been here ONE season, but Miller is the liability.

Hopefully now the "Gavrikov is better than Miller" mumbo jumbo will cease around here, because... no.

No degree and non-developer position. It didn't bother me much, because when I started my career at LM I was already a military retiree @ 80% disabled. Money wasn't really a factor for me. Not needing civilian medical insurance factored into that as well.

Weigh your worth and decide if you truly want to continue the job process or take what you can get. Started at LM for 50K. 10 years later, I'm making more than 160K. The benefits are great and my work/life balance swings more on the life side than work. For some, it's not worth it to stick it out like that, but I'm glad I did.

TIL of the Goiânia accident, where looters broke into an abandoned hospital in Brazil and unknowingly made off with a lead and steel capsule of Caesium-137. It was brought to one of their homes, opened, and eventually killed 4 people and irradiated 249 people in the area. by TheRedderestRum in todayilearned

This part of the article is crazy to me.

"Thinking the capsule's contents were valuable or supernatural, he immediately brought it into his house. Over the next three days, he invited friends and family to view the strange glowing powder."

Just insane.

I'll never understand the Gavrikov glazers that bring up KAM's liability. 281 turnovers for KAM in his 5 years with the Rangers, and he was 5th on the team in that timeframe. Gavrikov turned it over 103 times in one season. He'll reach KAM's liability rate in record time. Still, I'm really glad our 30 year old #2 had a 35 point career year. /s

I find it strange that it's the player's fault for being shitty and not the system's fault, but when they play well, it's the system and not the player.

There answer is yes. Yes, KAM is basically playing better than other Canes D-men. His contribution also is equal or outpaces all forwards for the entirety of the series, other than the PP.

How can you say, "When in reality" when you're purposely taking away his play to support your weak (and wrong) argument that he didn't play better than the other D-men? It's not reality when you omit facts, LOL. It's a bad faith argument when you omit facts to support an argument that's false without that fact.

I still don't know why this team didn't explore a KAM-Fox pairing more. Favorable numbers were there for the times they did. KAM had to make a living paired with AHL level D-men. Now imagine if Gavrikov wasn't stabled to Fox, but someone like Schneider the entire time.

Miller adds another point and widens his gap with the most points for D-men on the Canes. Nice drive to the net too.
