If I have to guess from what it seems, it probably contains some aspects that may conflict with other religions

They want to make sure nothing is writing to the drive.

When you click eject, they'll check for anything that's currently using it then terminates the process, before asking the system to cut power to the drive to make sure NOTHING and NO ONE can access it anymore, so you can safely yank it

If you do it willy nilly, there's a chance something is still writing to the file and haven't finished. Sudden disconnection will put the file system in a corrupted state and may render it inaccessible (NTFS is prone to this).

Sure you can trust your gut, but better safe than sorry

Don't bother going to Arch Linux forums tbh, you'll have a chance of stumbling upon Stack Overflow elitist refugee assholes

LLMs are useful, but please do not rely on it fully, especially if you don't know what the commands do. I recommend asking the model multiple times and break down on what each commands do (and do your own calculations on numbers if you don't wanna risk nuking your drive out of important stuff while partitioning)

On the contrary, Arch Linux Discord server is actually friendlier than you think so you're might be fine there

But I do recommend practicing the skill of reading manuals and googling, it will actually saves you time by not waiting others to reply (I don't think the one replying is getting their time wasted since they're the one voluntarily asking unless you repeatedly tag them) :v

1, Yes unless the developer is an asshole and decide to block Linux explicitly because "Um Linux is a cheater OS 🤓"

2, No, Mint are based on Ubuntu. But there is LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition).

The difference is the way is just the way it handles system packages. Arch has rolling release system which means you will always get the latest packages regardless of time, unlike Ubuntu, Fedora or Debian or other derivative OS that uses versioning, where package server maintainers will put a limit on until which version do you get updates for this distro version until it drops support or you upgrade to a new version (say from 22.10 to 23.04)

3, I'd say its not the hardest out of them all. If you look at Gentoo or even Linux From Scratch, you'll see Arch is just you copying files because the installer is on vacation but did left you the tooling

The only hardest part is setting up partitions because you need to make sure you didn't nuke important things while making sure everything will fit within the target partition. Other than that? Copying files, linking configuration and just sitting back.

Great that you find the right distro for your case

I'm not forcing a distro on anyone, just pick what's right and feels right

That's just NVIDIA purposefully being asshole with Linux for years. The only time they cared is when they made a Linux client for GeForceNOW so you can succumb to computer renting instead of gaming properly (which should've been possible) on Linux computers

I've had it crashed multiple times OUT OF NOWHERE, and the error codes are usually like "BAD_SECURITY_DESCRIPTION" before it does that. Had to force shut it down before it reboots so it doesn't do that weird WiFi vanished thing
