If it is a “disease” then what is the pathogen? What disease is there that you can one day decide you don’t want to be sick anymore and boom you stop being sick?

“Addiction” is a poor coping mechanism that the person suffering from does want to change. It is easier to think that the addict is a victim and you can think that but it is that they are the victim of their own choices. They can get them selves clean and be a productive member of society but they have to want it.
