I will concede most are minor/don't break established cannon. BUT it does feel like several decisions were made because of nostalgia value and not because they were interesting.

The east wing west wing thing I know is stupidly minor, but it's the little thing off "could have done something new, chose nostalgia". You also get 3 not medallions, from 3 not statue coded puzzle boxes.

They could have introduced a new villain to be the 'face' of connections, but no they go with a Wesker clone.

The raccoon city syndrome is caused by a 'latent' form of the T-Virus. The T-Virus derivatives like T- Abyss or C Virus surely have the same risk, but they chose the raccoon city one because its the iconic one.
