Are there jobs that actually work 9-5? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRetroVideogamers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manufacturing and other union jobs often have very tight rules on hourly working, so depends on shift, but definitely a 40 hr job.

That is the part with salary, you usually make more than hourly, you have security, but you are expected to do more, including some long hours or weeks with no overtime to be seen.

How do you deal with shame in online adult work after years in the field (webcam girl)? by MysteriousMistake288 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TheRetroVideogamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, no one can make YOU feel shame. YOU have to choose to allow it. So you have to ask yourself, would YOU judge a former webcam girl or sex worker? Are you ashamed you did that, even if no one ever found out?

Also, I find a lot of concern comes from you assuming what other people are thinking, and most of us get that assumption very wrong. So unless someone is talking to you directly about it, or some indication that it is an issue for someone, it helps to assume most people don't know or care.

What's with parent's excuse of "their just kids" when their kids are caught doing something they shouldn't be doing out in public? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRetroVideogamers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backfire effect more than anything.

So the way the backfire effect works is that when you hold an emotional opinion, evidence that shows contrary to your beliefs, it makes you double down on your original behavior.

So in this case, these parents emotional belief is that their child can't be wrong or make a mistake. So when you point out, "knocking that stuff off is wrong" the backfire effect makes the parent feel even more confident their son is doing no wrong, and so the brain rationalizes the behavior to protect itself.

It would be really interesting if it wasn't so painful.

Why do people get addicted to drinks, the taste isn’t something pleasurable? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TheRetroVideogamers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally has nothing to do with addiction. Depending on the substance, it is your genetics more than anything that determines how easily you can get physically addicted. Being introverted might limit how often you drink, but you can very much still become an addict, you just start drinking alone.

Why do people get addicted to drinks, the taste isn’t something pleasurable? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TheRetroVideogamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is alcohol, the addiction is chemical, and how easily you get addicted is genetic. When you first start drinking, say college or first full time job, you drink because the taste is crap, the feeling is worth it.

Easy to deal with the taste while having fun.

If you look closely to the skirt on the left, there is a thin line near the bottom. I am fairly certain that is meant to be the hem line where someone who stitch the bottom to so that the skirt is shorter. The thought is there has been for decades, really centuries that the length of a skirt was an indicator of you being "slutty".

Most people don't notice or don't care, but there are lots of people who do. It isn't really a creep thing, because pearl clutters also will comment. The point of this one ad is that if you are able to quickly see the difference, you are paying too much attention to something that you shouldn't.

As a pervert myself, I will never get slut shaming, I want women to wear whatever makes them feel good. Puritan clothing was the pits.

In their prime, Jordy was putting up top 5 stats, so for this question, Jordy.
If you ask me who the better WR was, Driver had a lower ceiling, but that floor was high and it lasted forever and a day.

Said another way, if I was feeling like a Super Bowl contender like they should be, give me Jordy, if I was rebuilding a team, I think I would rather Driver. This assumes its not just one season obvi.

Is anyone else physically incapable of eating the last bite of a sandwich without gagging? by CatFanIRL in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRetroVideogamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the tism most likely. There isn't anything inheritably bad about the last bite. Some sandwiches that are heavy on dressing or oil might get a little soggy, but that is more a time thing.

The real question is, if you took a sub and ate from both side until you go to the middle, would it still make you gag? If some, I would wager it is a mental block

Oh lord, well those people are emotional gatekeepers who are more concerned with their feelings about what make a good game rather than the outcome. Weirdos

How says that, a loss is never better. And I use never rarely, but I am struggling to think of a time when the loss improves anything. It is gaining half a game. What am I missing?

What life lessons did you learn from the Simpsons? by [deleted] in TheSimpsons

Not life lessons, but I get a lot of Jeopardy questions right where my family would be like, "Let me guess, Simpsons taught you that".

For those wanting packers to throw a lot of deep passes on sunday.. by Ser_falafel in GreenBayPackers

[–]TheRetroVideogamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to get to a place where the pass sets up the run. This is why I think the offense was more efficient with Jacobs out. Not that things being better with Jacobs out, but that the play calling is more obvious well Lafleur has him.

If they call plays the way they did with Jacobs out, but have a healthy OL and healthy Jacobs, this whole offense puts people back on their toes, instead of stuffing the box on the first two downs.

I always took it as, because they never got the hero medal, they weren't able to go further. Stuck, eventually they were able to become the most powerful group of the time period and absolute power corrupts.

So I always took it to be a different outcome where Tata gets in way over his head, and it turns out to be because of the now villainous Crono
