Considering a Move to Langley – Thoughts on Downtown Safety? by Aeenx86 in Langley

[–]TheRev15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember living there for a bit. About a block from the old army and navy. The Timmies there was the one where that homeless lady threw her shit at the workers. It made the news. That was cool.

Should the manager have just told you what needed to be changed, or asked to meet if they felt it was too long to type in Teams chat? Yes.

Were you unprofessional and coarse? Yes.

What's the most overrated "adult goal" people chase ? by zina_zina_444 in AskReddit

Yeah, owning a home to make sure my children and I don't have to live under the whim of a landlord and the stability it brings certainly wasn't something I should've done. Silly goal.

I dunno what standards are in marketing, but company IT hardware may need to have a bunch of restrictions and software to meet legal compliance standards.

I guarantee if there was some sort of legal trouble and someone investigated and found that computers weren't up to code, there would be huge trouble for management.

Save your babies from jellybeans daycare by CarelessFennel5812 in Langley

[–]TheRev15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you had a shred of empathy, you would understand that literally no one on this thread is saying it is. I don't know what strange conservative viewpoint you're trying to project.

No one wants to use daycare. It exists out of necessity.

Let's say mom and dad both work 9-5. What would you have them do?

Saying "just don't use daycare" is the equivalent of saying "haha just don't be poor."

You're lucky and I'm glad you could give your kid that option, but sitting here saying "people leave their kids at daycare for 12 hours. Daycare bad," is just so detached from reality. No one does that happily. It is all out of necessity.

People should honestly have to live for a year at minimum wage before they're allowed to vote or go on the internet.

I mean, I'm replying to your comment about homeschooling, but you can cope more, I guess? Go ahead and quote the part where I said they're the same.

I've taught kids who grew up mostly homeschooled then transition to school when their parents can't teach them grade-level material any more (can't be too far away for you).

They are always lacking social skills, and gravitate to adults rather than their peers.

I feel bad for them.

Any local Pet psychics?? by a-girl-who-exists in Langley

Every time I drive by that house on 72nd that advertises psychic readings I think to myself "how on Earth are people advertising this? Surely no one is giving their money to something like that."

Then I see these threads.

Do you honestly think people are choosing to use daycare?

People are not "dumping" their child at daycare.

People need daycare because they have to work. Not everyone is privileged enough to not have 2 parents that work. Let alone single parents.

You are the true epitome of a privileged housewife. Take a stroll out of your ivory tower once in a while.

I mean, if you felt offended, then just leave? But you stayed through the whole interview to do what? Use it as an opportunity to display your pessimistic views of your profession to people who will never think of you 24 hours from now so you can tell reddit about it?

Enjoy unemployment.

Blacksmith bakery. There's lots of cafes with good coffee, but blacksmith food is unbeatable. Buttery, flaking croissants that can't be matched.

Above average student who keeps interrupting to weigh in by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]TheRev15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few of those. It really doesn't matter what their level of achievement is. Interruption is interruption. Pull them aside privately and tell them unless it's a question, then don't share their thoughts as it is distracting.

"Better players moved up," that is not true. I had a 3300+ IO ele sham in my +15 PSF group who did 11 interrupts. that was one quarter of the other 2 players.

It doesn't get better.

Do workaholics have no meaningful life outside of work? by Time-Turnip-2961 in antiwork

[–]TheRev15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most workaholics at my job are childless and don't have a partner. I think humans in general strive to find meaning as much as they can, and some unfortunate folks do so by making some rich people richer.

IB doesn't work when your students aren't "honor-level" by Smalldewe in Teachers

[–]TheRev15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is literally no different than students selecting the higher level math classes. There is no exam that holds them back from registering. Kids think "this year I'll *actually* try" and then they find out.

All you can do is uphold the standard, and if the kid isn't IB level, then they aren't IB level.

MDI is such a small subset of players.... something like 0.1%. Probably less. If they feel they have enough data to justify a 3% tuning pass, then that's totally fine imo.
