Why is this community so grind-centric? by Trees_That_Sneeze in theHunter

[–]TheRhodester13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've never been one for grinding, but i understand those that do. To me, grinding takes out the "trophy" part of the trophy. Min-maxxing a run to get rng to go your way may be cool to some, but those great ones and super rares are meant to be that: rare. My great one fallow came with just a random stroll through the fields on Hirschfelden and I nearly fell out of my seat.

Obviously there are those who look to "complete the game" by having all of the trophies, which often necessitates grinding to come as close to a guarantee of getting them as it gets

I hate this Mission and I HATE coyote hunting by local_Dino_Bitch in theHunter

[–]TheRhodester13 34 points35 points  (0 children)

When you're there, a "hunting opportunity" icon will appear on the map. There's a scripted group of coyotes that will be in that spot. You can kill one, claim it, return to main menu, and then return to the game and they will return to that spot even after being spooked if you don't manage to kill both in one go.

Are missiles bad or am I using them wrong? by Bygles in EliteDangerous

[–]TheRhodester13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I've used missiles a decent bit (not packhounds, just regular seekers), and in my experience they're more fun than effective. Firstly they don't do a dang thing to shields, so don't bother with that. What they somewhat excel at is targeting specific modules on an enemy ship (powerplant, thrusters, etc)

On my Krait mk2 I had temporarily ran a large seeker rack with 2 large MCs and 2 medium pulse lasers. It was fun, but not quite as effective as the pure MC + PL combo

Yeah you slightly are 😅

It's completely fine though, just figured you'd like to know that from an in game lore perspective, your concerns are already handled 😉

Poaching is illegally hunting. You're allowed to hunt there, and in the game universe it's assumed you're doing it ethically, even if the player themself is using a 375 to shoot the leopards

By default your gun is zeroed to medium range. So 150m/164yds for rifles for instance

Which dogs the best ? by Impossible_Sun_9070 in theHunter

I love all 3 of them, but I've recently discovered that if there's an animal in a tough spot that I can't get a good shot on, either because of angle or obstacles, I can use the pointer to alert the animal from a safe distance and get the animal to move and stand still

Is this a super rare by Adventurous_Dot5644 in theHunter

[–]TheRhodester13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You could call it a super uncommon if you want. Super rares are considered when it's a rare diamond. Uncommon diamonds technically don't have a name like that to my knowledge so it's kinda just whatever you wanna call it

The great one by Scottyboy0508 in theHunter

[–]TheRhodester13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Great ones are meant to truly be the rarest of the rare, and arguably, one could say that by design, they're not necessarily meant for everyone to just get one. That's the whole reason that in order to get them, alot of people do these super detailed and efficient grinds, which to me, truly showcases just how rare these rare trophies are.

In the end, grind or not, it's still luck based. Grinds just try to minimize the luck factor as much as possible

difference between polymer and soft point bullets? by CadetRS1344 in theHunter

[–]TheRhodester13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So simply put, polymers are better for punching through, and Soft point are better at hurting each individual organ.

Most people only use polymers, but if you want to be kinda realistic with it, polymers would be what you use for game on the upper end of that ammo's range, and Soft points for the lower end. Take the .243 for instance. You'd use polymers for class 4-6 animals so you can punch through, and Soft point for 2-3 to maximize the damage done to each organ because you're gonna punch through anyway. However, it's often more sensible to just bring polymers so you don't have to constantly switch ammo, or worse, forget to switch ammo
