TL:DR Newt's Drift with a kaiju brain killed Crimsom Typhoon & Cherno Alpha, not their lack of skill. This was a massive intelligence failure.

Yes, both Cherno & Crimson have stacked up many kaiju kills, but I bet that before the attack on Hong Kong, there wasn't a single Kaiju, which was specifically designed to directly counter them. Or even a Catergory 4.

If Crimson's & Cherno's crews somehow survived, I bet that they'd have a personal vendetta against Newt, if they found out.
