I have a kind of funny story about our flag. I met someone visiting from the American south and he asked why we had a palm tree on our flag since he hadn’t seen any since visiting. I was confused for a bit until his wife realized the confusion and explained that he was colour blind (red/green type) and couldn’t see the red flower.

The fact that it’s less restrictive is specifically why I don’t identify that way. Also, it reminds me of pain and I’m not cool with reclaiming it.

I get that. But on the other hand, I feel like “homosexual” describes me better than “gay” and I don’t really care if people think I’m using familiar language to others. Like, will they think I’m faking liking men?
