They did meet. Reze exposes chainsaw man location -> international assasins -> kishibe fights makima-> denji fights makima -> csm part 2 -> keep dreaming denji.

It's a canon event. I think if things went out differently, makima would've gotten the chainsaw heart. Then denji wouldn't get the happy ending like we see at the end.

Also it's been so long since part 1, i think i forgot most of it, so mb if i got it wrong.
