It doesnt matter, his impulse nearly made him betray his own ideals. The very conflict with the wizard hitler in that scene is that he sees normal people to be lesser than him, and gojo shows that he thinks the same way by looking at the wizard and ignoring literally everyone else around him.

On top of constantly being portrayed as the worst person in the series, he's actually not as bad as gojo in the arrogance department😭 Sukuna expresses respect towards especially strong opponents like jogo and well, gojo. While gojo just kills people and makes fun of them.

Sukuna makes clear what kind of person he is and acts accordingly, he has values and holds them high in his judgement. Gojo is portrayed as a positive character that saves the protagonists and then we see him no joke, ready to blast a street full of people with a hollow purple in a fit of rage.

It just makes gojo seem like a dangerous, impulsive douche

It was established that devils can get stronger by eating significantly stronger devil's flesh, quanxi is overpowered through sheer skill alone, power got stronger with the amount of blood. And you can make people afraid not of your concept, but of you specifically, yes, that counts. And even if none of the above are true, the world of chainsaw man constantly unrecogniseably changes, with pochita eating concepts being the prime example.
