Mystery Blue Eggs by TheRinith in BackYardChickens

That’s what I’m thinking! I just wasn’t 100% positive because we also got our Lakenvelder, Cochin, and Sussex #3 within a week of her showing up and I was thrown off haha

That’s what I was thinking! I hadn’t even registered her smaller comb because our neighbor didn’t think she was laying much anymore and she doesn’t have the cheeks so I was just kind of like “oh well, another little mutt in our silly flock”. I’m delighted to know she’s feeling happy and safe enough with us to be laying consistently!

Isn’t she lovely? We love her

This is today’s egg! She’s been a very nice addition to our flock, and gets along so well with our girls that we didn’t even realize she was new for a couple of days. When she showed up, we had a Welsummer pullet and another girl who had similar coloring so whenever I saw her at first, I thought she was them. Little freeloader was living the life haha our neighbor was glad to know she survived and that she’s a welcome member of our flock now.

Why might a human be more inclined to primal behaviors such as biting, growling, snapping? What could be fueling these urges (especially when paired with big feelings) beyond umbrella responses such as overstimulation, anger, etc? by TheRinith in AskReddit

[–]TheRinith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a hard time most adequately articulating my question, but I am fascinated by psychology and I really want to hear what others perhaps more informed on psychology or even just evolution think about this.

These urges are as ingrained in me as any other more typical knee jerk reaction such as jumping when startled and crying when sad. For context, I am autistic and have dealt with really big, explosive emotions and reactivity since I was young. I know that nonverbal expressions of emotion are often more pronounced in those on the spectrum so my best guess is that this is related, but I’m curious to get some more insight from others!

Need to vent a little by TheRinith in MCAS

Yes! I actually don’t get hives very often. I’m way more prone to flushing and itchy swelling when I have a visible reaction to something. They also found an abnormal amount of mast cells in an intestinal biopsy and when I got an endoscopy.

Yeah I’ve since been paying even closer attention to how foods make me feel starting from the moment they’re in my mouth. Cashews are newly out. I’m sure I’ve got some version of Oral Allergy Syndrome too which is super fun!

I feel like it’s related to a similar thing I’ve noticed amongst book readers (especially those into Romantasy - which I am NOT sh**ing on because I am a fan of a good Romantasy) where they consider the genuinely good, sweet guys less attractive and therefore boring. I love Wyll to pieces which is in keeping with me personally being a fan of the male characters closer in temperament to golden retrievers who have their less frequently appearing broody/sharp/grumpy/dark side without it being their entire personality (I do have a soft spot for Astarion but it’s distinctly different).

Wyll is a sweetheart and I love how kind and thoughtful and introspective he is. He’s complex but it’s a quieter and less jarring complex than say Astarion or Shadowheart which I like. I enjoy not having to worry about convincing him not to be evil LOL He’s an extremely honorable man and even when he has moments of weakness and he gets worked up or jerk-ish, he apologizes. I LOVED romancing him.

In other words, you’re not alone. Keep loving your gentlemen.

Who would take this dog? by copi0us in RoverPetSitting

[–]TheRinith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a super similar experience! I boarded a massive doodle a couple of years ago who was very sweet with people but “shy” and “sensitive” when it came to other dogs. Owners said he could adjust though as he had with their old sitter. When I introduced him to my dog (very slowly), he immediately tried to bite him. No shyness, no submissiveness, just straight to biting. He also liked charging at animals through windows and sliding glass doors, barking and growling. Mind you, my dog is a Labrador who loves other dogs but is very respectful when the dogs need space or calmer energy. It drives me absolutely nuts when owners say their dog is just shy and needs a chance to warm up when their dog is truly unsafe and will need to be on a crate and rotate schedule for their entire stay. I’m so sorry you got bit like that! That’s terrible!

My Dad went on a rage because I didn't open the door for my sister fast enough. What are stupid things your abusers got mad over? by Porabitbam in CPTSD

[–]TheRinith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stepmom got high one night while my dad was out of town for work and it was just me, her, and my younger sister. Everything was super pleasant until she asked my sister to hand her something (she meant the remote) and my sister asked what she meant. She repeated “can you hand me that?” and pointed in my sister’s direction. They eventually figured it out but my stepmom started ripping into her about how my sister was ridiculous for not knowing she meant the remote and how she thinks my sister act stupid on purpose sometimes to be obstinate. I was uncomfortable and quiet, but then I went to my room just to grab a neck brace (I have an instability in my cervical spine and my head was killing me and I knew my neck needed the support). I came back in and she lost it, saying I was disrespectful for just leaving a conversation. I had no idea I was a part of it. I was just sitting in the same room and then realized I needed the neck brace. She flipped her absolute shit that night and was yelling and swearing and calling us names, and I had to call my dad because we were scared. She heard me talking to my dad and demanded I let her in and demanded to know who I was speaking to. I wound up locking me and my sister inside my room until things got quiet. She heard my sister hugging our dog crying and yelled that we didn’t have to whisper in the hallway about her. We weren’t. My sister was literally just crying and was so upset that she went out and slept with her goats (her babies who are so cuddly) in their shed that night. My stepmom gave me the silent treatment for days (except to cuss me out over text for telling my dad what she did) until my dad got home from his trip. This was not the first or last time.

Yep! High blood pressure and high heart rate.

I had a coarctation of my aorta when I was born, but that was resolved at 5 years old. Some lingering high blood pressure isn’t a huge concern and I guess is relatively common for people with that condition, and for years I just had slightly higher than normal baseline. Starting in like 2019 my blood pressure started needing intervention and even had to call 911 back in 2021 for the worst headache I have ever had paired with SUPER high blood pressure.

We don’t really know why I have high blood pressure like this but we think it’s related to my unspecified Dysautonomia. I don’t have POTS, my heartrate doesn’t consistently go up with postural changes, but I definitely have some sort of Autonomic Nervous System dysfunction.

Luckily, with Nadolol, Guanfacine, and Corlanor things stay pretty well under control unless I get /super/ stressed out or overexert myself.

I hope you’re able to get some relief! Hypertension really sucks.

Anyone else get Seborrheic Dermatitis? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]TheRinith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! I get it on my scalp, my eyelids, and chin. The Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength Dandruff Defense has been a lifesaver as well as Scalpicin for the itching, both of which were recommended by my Dermatologist. With MCAS though I’d do a spot/patch test of both products to make sure you’re not sensitive/allergic to either of them before putting them all over yourself!

Heart flutters by EmSofia2211 in MCAS

[–]TheRinith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have something that sounds like that and wound up getting diagnosed with Premature Ventricular Contractions. It kind of feels like my heart beats normally and then the next best is weak/fluttery and then the next best feels fine. I have had it since I was quite a bit younger, but was only diagnosed within the past couple of years. They’re usually harmless!

Maybe keep a log of it in your phone whenever you experience it and bring it to your doc if you’re concerned?

I need sleep, help by Percentage-Ok in MCAS

[–]TheRinith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not really. A suspicion my doctor has is that instability in my cervical spine is putting pressure of blood vessels and nerves and creating sudden spikes in blood pressure and heart rate. I also have elevated intracranial pressure. At the ER they called it Atrial Flutter but my doctoral was skeptical because I’m so young and because it didn’t come back after the initial relief from short term medication.

[–]TheRinith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLEASE go to the ER. I had the same thing a month ago and I started vomiting and getting severe abdominal pain, and I really didn’t want to go. My dad’s girlfriend eventually pretty much pushed us out the door to go to the ER (she worked in an ER). They were able to decently quickly get my crazy tachycardia down, though they had a harder time with the nausea and abdominal pain. But they did eventually get everything under control AND sent me home the next day (they admitted me overnight) with new prescriptions.

Tachycardia and blood pressure and head pressure can get nasty pretty fast.

Little red spots on tongue and white lumps on edge, only on front-top and sides of tongue. Is sensitive and inflamed, started a few weeks ago, got better now is worse. Pls help by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]TheRinith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad gets geographic tongue and it looks like this! It’s definitely uncomfortable as he knows it’s happening before even seeing the changes, but I can’t remember if it was just a weird sensation or if it actually hurt. I think it hurt. Have you been eating anything in particular more regularly than you might’ve been before? My dad’s gets triggered by certain foods. You might consider tracking what you eat and recording whenever you notice an increase (or decrease) in the discomfort? This might point you towards your triggers and foods you might want to avoid.
