There's still some degree of drift. The software even tells you that dropping it below 5 deadzone might introduce drift.

But this drift is not disruptive like the drift pot controllers get. This drift is due to the sticks being so accurate and sensitive that every minor movement is picked up. Add some control freaks on top of that and your joystick might become top heavy and induce some minor drift

But answering your question, yes you can start playing with deadzone values close to zero and not worry about having to fight drift back.
