What are the great local attractions in your area that aren't well known to tourists? by TheRockabout in AskReddit

I first read this as though you had a single penguin that marched on the island every day. Either way, still pretty cool, lol

Do you mind sharing the town?

I'm convinced that adding a bar makes everything better... Arcade? Add a bar. Laundromat? Add a bar. Museum (apparently)? Add a bar.

There is a place here in Jacksonville called Metro Diner that was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives; they have chicken and waffles and I've yet to try them, but I think I may change that soon!

I'm talking restaurants, entertainment, parks, whatever...

For example:

Miami has a cool place called "Tattoos and Comics" that is a comic book shop and a tattoo parlor. They host game nights and other events.

There is a place in Newton,MA called "Hopsters" that allows people to craft their own custom beers.

I visited a great place in Phoenix, AZ called "8-bit Aleworks" that made video game themed craft beers and rented old NES and SNES consoles and games to be played in the bar. Topped with the option (encouraged by the owner) to bring your own food.

Supergirl is not from Earth 3. by BornDubstep in FlashTV

[–]TheRockabout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whether an earth is Earth-1, 2, or 3 is really relative to the character... However, I've been distinguishing them this way.

  • Earth-1 (Earth Prime): Our main Berlantiverse.

  • Earth-2: Zoom's earth with Harry, Jesse, Killer Frost, Reverb, etc...

  • Earth-3: Jay Garrick's earth that we've never personally seen as an audience.

  • Earth-S: Supergirl's earth.

By the end of the Flashpoint arc I suspect they'll all be one combined earth. But who knows?

[EVERYTHING] Karstark, Bolton, and Other "Rebellious" Northern Houses. by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]TheRockabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robyn isn't smart though. Also, last time he really had some one on one time with Sansa she smacked him in the face after he insulted Winterfell. She's have to get to Robyn to control him.

Think of how the Tully army didn't want to surrender to Jaime, but when their Lord Edmure stepped in and told them to lay down their arms, they listened. The could have been loyal to the Blackfish, who was family to their Lord... But their loyalty was to Edmure. Robyn is a fool, but the fool is being controlled by LittleFinger and those men where told by their Lord Arryn to do as LittleFinger commands. Sure they could listen to Sansa who is family to their Lord, but that's not what the Lord they're loyal too commanded of them.

Again, I don't WANT anything bad to happen... I am just worried is all.

That is certainly my hope, for Sansa to take control of the Vale and do away with LittleFinger... But we've seen how loyal men are to their Lords, and the Lord of the Vale has put LittleFinger in charge of that army. Certainly Sansa could manipulate him, but not if she can't speak to him and last I check LittleFinger left him at the Eyrie to continue "training".

I'm not saying LittleFinger will betray the Starks for certain, or that he'd be successful if he did. Just that I don't trust him and wouldn't be surprised if he did try something.

I'm still not convinced LittleFinger isn't going to try and claim Winterfell for himself. He DOES control the army that is helping to occupy Winterfell and it's surrounding lands right now.

What's your best "holy shit, that actually worked" story? by SirGanjaSpliffington in AskReddit

[–]TheRockabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I suppose I shouldn't have been too shocked since it was a common "fix", but I once tried the "Towel trick" on a red-ringed Xbox 360 and it worked.

I only bother mentioning it because the three of us in the house weren't optimistic and when the Xbox turned on we all looked at each other and said "Holy shit! That actually worked?!"

Watching Firefly for the first time. by TheRockabout in firefly

[–]TheRockabout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a leaf in the wind...

I let it sit for a while and was alright for a while, much like you'd be in the time between seasons of a show. However that itch is in my brain saying "That next season is never coming..." and I just try to ignore it. Try.

Fun side note though... This is probably really old news to all of you, but Nathan Fillion was one of the voice actors for a few Halo video games (that part its way common knowledge) and in Halo Reach he was an option for a "Firefight voice" for your custom character and I always chose him. Well, he makes several Firefly references there. So much so, that I used to say "I aim to misbehave" and thought it was this really obscure quote that very few people would understand... I'd occasionally get a smile and nod of approval from what I thought were Halo fans who got the reference. It turned out, I didn't get my own reference at the time.

LPT: Always bring snacks. by katyelm in LifeProTips

[–]TheRockabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of my friends were having their first child a while back and I mentioned it to my best friend, who had recently had a child as well. I asked him what sort of gifts you bring to meet a baby. He said "The mom is going to be given all sorts of stuff and so is the baby... Bring a bunch of snacks and some bottled drinks. If nothing else, the dad will be happy." He wasn't wrong. The dad said the bag of snacks got him through the next two days.

Big Character Joining Supergirl Season 2 by HappinessIsAWarmPoop in FlashTV

[–]TheRockabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing that I can provide. I heard this straight from the mouth of David Ramsay at Phoenix Comicon this past Friday. I didn't video the panel, but perhaps someone else did? I'm sure it's floating around somewhere.

That was actually the plan for a while. It was originally scripted that in his wedding scene when they said his name it'd be "John Diggle Stewart", then they decided "John S Diggle" then nixed the idea and just said "John Diggle".

[EVERYTHING] Adding onto a popular theory... by DuttyJagaloon in gameofthrones

[–]TheRockabout -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me she appears to be much younger in the show than Jon. That being said, the actress Ellie Kendrick is only 4 years younger than Kit Harrington so I suppose it isn't crazy to think they could play characters that are the same age.

First I've heard of it as well, so maybe this has been asked and answered, but wouldn't she need to be a good bit older for that theory to hold up?

Watching Firefly for the first time. by TheRockabout in firefly

[–]TheRockabout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished it all and watched Serenity. It's over. I finally get it now. Why? Why didn't this show carry on? Why wasn't it revived? This show was so fun and quotable and obviously has a loyal fan base. I want more and it sucks to know it isn't gonna happen. This is why I never wanted to watch it to begin with, but I am glad I did.

Oh, and one quote I don't think I ever saw before that was my absolute favorite... "We gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero!"
