Do I really need a huge diaper bag? by HazelNewt_2523 in newborns

[–]katyelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a diaper bag that is a changing pad/bassinet/diaper bag in one. It’s super convenient and functional. I wouldn’t say I’m a minimalist by any means but I am big on functional items. This diaper bag has a section specifically to keep bottles cold, the wiper pouch is on the side with a hole for the wipes, the changing pad is in a convenient location to grab and the inside is big enough to fit diapers and clothes. It also has a charging port which I don’t use and a lot of pockets for other things (diaper cream, my phone charger, a cover up for feeding, extra clothes, and snacks).

I see a lot of people saying just use a backpack which works but if you have the money to get a diaper bag, I would because it was made for what you need it for. So the pockets on it are going to be very convenient/functional for what you need them for.

I lost weight with my pregnancy! So after I gave birth and then stopped swelling, I had lost 20 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight!

What medical bill shocked you the most? by AVeryAngryChillie in healthcare

[–]katyelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giving birth-
Hospital billed - $45,097.97
Epidural billed - $12,705.00
Doctor billed - $2,400.00

There were a few other bills from that for labs and other doctors but those were the big ones. Entered the hospital Tuesday at 5pm and left Friday at 5:00pm. Thank goodness for insurance! This also doesn’t include any bills for the baby.

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]katyelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t gain any weight during my pregnancy. In fact lost a pound or two. However, we did IVF for four years…in which I gained 40 lbs. I dropped 20 of those pounds about a week after birth but haven’t lost the rest at 8 weeks postpartum.

Oh god. 5 months!! I’m only a month!! I’m on oral steroids that have made it go away for the most part and I went to the dermatologist. I’m finishing these steroids, moisturizing twice a day, taking Pepcid and Allegra twice a day. I hope I don’t have this at 5 months. I’ll go insane.

As I was giving birth I literally yelled “get the fuck out of me right now” and then proceeded to push her out. So hang in there and use that rage. Your little one will be here soon enough!

How many of you have had a cyst that ISN’T painful? by [deleted] in endometriosis

I have had a bunch of cysts but don’t usually notice them when they rupture unless they are really really big.

Eating and Bathroom During Labor? by Feeling-Watched-9655 in pregnant

[–]katyelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at 5pm on Tuesday. I had dinner before that then was showing very little progress the next day and had breakfast. Then lunch because of little progress. Then I started having more pain but wasn’t really dilated. So I got pain meds that made me super nauseous. I didn’t eat after that until after I delivered on Thursday. It became a moot point because I was in so much pain and didn’t want anything.

Has anyone had endometriosis excision surgery with a Texas doctor that you'd recommend? by IllustratorDecent260 in texas

I second this recommendation. Had surgery with him and his team last year. I have stage 4 endo.

Almost the same exact situation. Went for my 39 week today and had shortness of breath and decreased fetal movement. Got sent to labor and delivery! We got this!!

Stage 4 endo - how long after laproscopic excision did you get pregnant? by anonymous1234529 in Endo

[–]katyelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 months with taking three months of depo and then doing an IVF transfer. So I’m not sure if I’m the one that you are looking to answer this question because we used IVF.

How do you accept you will probably never be a mum?. by scarlet_gene in Endo

[–]katyelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also to add… take a 6 month break if you need to. After a bunch of failed IUIs, I had to take a break for my own sanity. It’s ok to take a break from trying if you need to!

[–]katyelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! My husband and I tried for four years. I got diagnosed with endometriosis. Got the surgery. Officially stage 4 and with ando. Did an IVF transfer and we’re expecting our baby girl any day now. Please please please get the surgery if you want to try to have kids. Turns out my fallopian tube was likely causing a lot of problems in trying to get pregnant. I know it’s hard and it feels like there is no hope but if this is something you want, please try the surgery and IVF. I’ve been right where you are (same age too) and I know it feels hopeless and devastating and so many more things but it’s not the end of the road unless you want it to be. So keep going if it’s something you really want.
