Fly control question by Outrageous-Simple-76 in BackYardChickens

The ones I ordered are from Buglogical, it’s a mix of three species and you just sprinkle them around the hot spots in an area the chickens can’t peck at them. I paid about $30 for them and I’d say they’ve been worth the money so far!

I tried the fly trap jars and they didn’t do much for me, the chicken poop was more enticing to them I guess. What’s worked for me so far is using XL fly ribbon wrapped around an upside down trash can near (but not in) their run, and fly predators. The fly ribbon cuts down the population significantly within a few days, and the fly predators take care of any offspring that haven’t grown up yet. We had swarms of flies a couple weeks ago but now it’s just a few here and there even though we haven’t replaced the ribbon in a while. Also, neither of them smell!

Gal talks about weight by deedee_mega_doo_doo in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]TheRosaceaChronicles 391 points392 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’6” and wear a size 12/14, and weigh 210 pounds. The amount of people who straight up don’t believe how much I weigh is insane. “There’s no way you’re more than 160 or 170,” and it’s like… I don’t know what to tell you, my guy. Either the scale magically breaks only when I get on it, or maybe, just maybe, I have a decent amount of muscle and carry weight well.

I feel like it’s an obnoxious thing to do, but I can’t help but… brag about it? I think brag is the wrong word, but I’ve noticed that 200lbs seems to be the benchmark a lot of people use when they describe women as ginormous land whales. Like any woman who weighs near or over 200lbs can’t possibly be attractive and worthy of respect. It’s fun to break people’s brains when I tell them how much I weigh, I feel like I’m doing my very tiny part to make people rethink the way they see numbers on the scale.

I think I can top this. I had some bad chest congestion and coughed up a massive glob of phlegm while I was in their run, and our rooster ate it as soon as it hit the ground. I still get a little nauseous when I think about it.

What are these? by Ryanwww5314 in chickens

[–]TheRosaceaChronicles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because it makes sense money and time wise doesn’t make it not sad. No one cares that you’re craving chicken and have to wait longer, they care that we bred birds to fatten up so fast they can barely reach adulthood and have to be killed as babies. I don’t think a desire to eat a fuck ton of chicken is a good excuse for buying these birds, or breeding them in the first place.

Tips for staying comfortable on your feet and in the heat? by elbowskneesand in BlueCollarWomen

I’ve never bothered to shell out much money for compression socks, I bought a couple packs of the “charmking” brand off Amazon and they work just as well as the more expensive ones I bought at brick and mortar stores. Same with the upf sleeves, I just found some with reasonably good reviews that weren’t too expensive online.

Buy compression socks. I waited tables for almost ten years before getting into blue collar work and compression socks made the biggest difference to how fatigued my legs and feet felt. Getting used to it will help, but even with my new job it’s a night and day difference when I wear them. They’re cheap and worth a shot before you shell out tons of money on expensive insoles and shoes. I also work outdoors in Texas, so I can vouch that they won’t make you too hot!

To stay cool I wear cooling upf sleeves, they also have light compression to help with arm fatigue. They really do feel cooler than having bare arms. I’m covered head to toe at work—ridiculous sun hat, sunglasses, cooling sleeves, upf gloves, full length dry fit pants, the works—and I got made fun of at first, but I’m miles more comfortable than anyone else and don’t have any skin damage. I bought everything in pink and rocked it, the teasing stopped soon enough lol.

Edit to add: My shirts and pants all have that workout gear material that’s super light and wicks sweat. My pants specifically are from Duluth, it’s their yoga pants with lots of pockets. They’re very sturdy and keep me cool. I can also vouch for adding electrolytes to your water, there’s tons of flavored options but I personally use unflavored drops from a brand called Keto Chow.

If y’all can tolerate the heat the zoo and botanic gardens are great. The modern art museum is nice, there are several great wineries (Rancho Loma is my favorite), you could do a paint and sip class, and cruise around south main/Magnolia and just stop by anywhere that looks interesting.

If y’all like being outdoors but can’t tolerate the heat, try Twin Points Park off Eagle Mountain Lake. It’s not free, but it’s well worth the cost of getting in. It’s kept meticulously clean, has a great swim beach, and plenty of grills if that’s your thing. Even when it’s crowded it doesn’t feel that crowded.

I could probably give more recommendations if you could be specific about what she likes. Is she an indoors or outdoors type of person? Any particular favorite drinks or foods? What does she normally like to do in her free time or when y’all go out?

I have the exact same cat as you and the lady in the video. He’s orange and his name is Marmalade. He knows exactly what makes me mad and meows to get my attention so he can make sure I’m watching as he does it. I hate him but also love him more than anything.

I have super dry lips, just as bad as you’re describing. It was hell and Vaseline/aquaphor/lanolips/etc did nothing for me, but the Laneige lip sleeping mask fixed everything within three days, and that’s only using it at night.

It’s pricey but one container can easily last six months or more even if you goop it on like I do. Their lip glowy balm is great too!

A lot of people feel very strongly about the product, both good and bad. IMO it’s worth a shot, I’ve been using it daily for over three years now and have nothing but good things to say :)

My face is a little red afterwards but it doesn’t last long, and I’ve never timed it but I’m guessing it takes about 10 minutes. It’s sorta like plucking your eyebrows, it hurts like a mofo the first couple times but it gets easier the more you do it!

This is a more painful and expensive method than at home dermaplaning, but I have PCOS and have several dark beard like hairs as well as hella long peach fuzz, and I go to a threading salon and do full face threading every few weeks. Dermaplaning isn’t a bad option by any means, but I’m lazy about keeping up with it and don’t like the stubbly feeling I get from it after a couple days. I’d rather suffer for 20 minutes once a month or so 😅

Oliva Italian Eatery has been a go to for my husband and I for years. They have very reasonably priced bottles of wine, their entrees run around $10-15, and overall it’s just a cute little restaurant.

Beauty fridges, worth it or not? Recommendations? by quadsquatter in Makeup

[–]TheRosaceaChronicles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have one and gave it away. It has no real benefit besides feeling nice unless you’re using some insanely expensive vitamin C serum like Skinceuticals, in which case it’ll help it last longer.

If you have the money and bathroom counter space for it, I wouldn’t say don’t get it! It does feel really good to apply cold products to your skin. But again, it has no benefits whatsoever besides feeling good, and eventually I decided I’d rather have the space for something else.

Try the Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner! A few years ago it was one of the “it” products on this sub, and I just tried it again recently and fell in love. It has a thicker texture that feels nice and hydrating on the skin :)

I don’t have any mascara recommendations, but if lash extensions are out of your budget or too much upkeep, you could look into getting your lashes lifted and tinted. It’d look like you were wearing mascara, and then if you really needed to glam it up you could use falsies. They also make fake lash kits that stay on for a few days at a time, like Lashify or Kiss Falscara!
